As far as I  know all these networks are offline. Even if they aren't, just adding to the list:

Lightofthespire
aiwar

Lots of games daily.
Options are deadly.... :O :O :O

As for matchmaking or utility, why not using Comodo Unite which is free for personal/gaming job , not limited to 5 connexions and do almost the same job ?

If we're going to mention alternates, we might as well mention Tunngle.

Since Hamachi is not free to everyone anymore and the network does not seem to be continued (also a huge time has passed since the last post) I suggest to unpin this thread.
It does confuse new people (like me) in thinking that there might be still an open network.

Are you sure its not free? I was able to start it up just fine, never paid for it before, and I was able to get to the download page without paying either. According to wikipedia, the only thing missing for free people (aside from when they shrunk the free room size quite awhile ago) is 'Running in the background of idle computers', and if I'm using hamachi for something my computer isn't idle.

I'm not sure how thats relevant, sorry. I'm still able to make (5 person, not 32-person like on the site) networks for free via the client I have on here, and a 5-person AI War game is a pretty complicated one already.

That's, however, german so you have to find yourself a translation.
there it states clearly, the free service is not aviable anymore. To use the software int he future you have to get a subscription. I don't know how you manage a free network or if you have only to get a subscription to create a network but not to get access to a network, however the Hamachi site itself states that their service is since January not free anymore and you have to pay for it.
And I don't want to scare you but you might do something very illigel right now or pay for it without knowing it (which however is very unlikely).

The site furthermore states that they suspended the free services for some reason to get a better experience for premium users.

All I'm seeing is that LogMeIn free is no longer available (as said here, is this the same faq as your german one?).

LogMeIn free is not Hamachi. It is a different service by the same company, apparently one for remote access of computers.
