STARTING GAME IN 1 HOUR - JOIN NOW (old)
« on: November 06, 2009, 03:55:40 am »
This game is starting in an hour, counting from the moment this post has been made.
The game's settings will be decided in the game's lobby.

-ip deleted, game started-

How well did this approach work? Did you get any feedback?

Would be nice to see if you can organize ad-hoc games this way

I had about three people.

What we really need is a centralized way to meet other players and arrange games.
Right now we have all these little pockets of players in steam, irc, hamachi and what not.

The developers or someone in charge of AI War needs to find a way to unite the player base.
I really find myself scourging the very corners of the internet for someone to play this sexy game with

Oh god it's so very sexy

Well they are planning on having Gamespy doing that, soon I believe.  This would solve much of the issue--but for now, we have to wait patiently.
I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.

If Chris integrates AI War with Gamespy I will kill myself. Gamespy was the most horribly cocked up piece of crap years ago, and it is EXACTLY the same code today!

Shamus Young puts it all quite well:

...Gamespy, a service which astounds me each year it continues to not go out of business on account of being cumbersome, unreliable, and utterly superfluous to the needs of the day.

I have heard NOTHING from Chris about AI War and Gamespy. You have BETTER made that up, or I am going to be one upset guy!

Gamespy was great back when I used it for quake2. Now, not so much.
Why does all software needs to get so bloated after some time?

Anyway, I'll go paste my whining about a centralized playerbase in the suggestions forum
