Just out of interest, why destroy the co-processor? I thought it was better to leave them until you could hit them all together?

I'm more of a steamrolling person who likes to capture most planets i come across, and the Co-Processor inhibits that.

Progress report:

First thing is I've decided that this will be a take-as-many-planets-as-i-can game. Anyway, refer to the first post for planet names; included is a "state of the galaxy" at the time of writing. I'm in for a looooong game...

I've taken Sampi Theta and Xray Foxtrot, though i keep losing the command station on Sampi Theta to commando space planes (:/). I'm going to clean out and take that galaxy "arm", which includes an Advanced Factory, 2 Distribution Nodes, a Speed Booster fab, and a case of Core Zenith Reserve Ships (this one's gonna be fun, i'll be needing a lot of power generators). From there, I'll shore up my defenses and press into the section of the galaxy further to the right (the other chunk i've scouted).

Shoot, there's a CPA on the way i let slip by me. almost 5K ships; this is ridiculous! After a bit of save scumming, i've decided to pull backas much of my fleet as i can and "reinvest" in those systems only after I've pwned the incoming waves.

This is why lightning missiles come in handy, to intercept the cpa's before they make it to your base, or atleast take out a large chunk...

I have a handy shield i forgot about though: the Dyson Golem. It seems to sidetrack any ships that go by it into shooting down the gatlings it spits out. I am now massing grenade launchers in a hope to attack the masses of space planes that they have!

Progress report:

I've successfully repelled the attack partly thanks to the defenses seen in the second pic (forcefields came up after the attack was gone). Grenade launchers were invaluable in shredding the planes! One could even say they were plane graters... *snickers*

Anyway, a third rebel colony has popped up. This one i can reach (it's on Rho Digamma)! My fleet is on it's way, having to hit the Gatling-weakened planet that is Sampi Iota. There's a Distribution Node on that planet, so my resources will (probably) be receiving a boost there. My overall battle plans: Take Rho Digamma then reinforce my fleet and press back into the arm of the galaxy i had to abandon.

I've unlocked MkIII of Bombers and Cruisers as well as Lightning Turrets MkII, and will be unlocking more MkIII ships as the opportunity comes.

Thoughts?

Edit: that stupid stinkin distribution node was trojan! :shakes fist:

Update: I tossed my entire fleet down the drain trying to rescue the rebel colony, more or less twice. I also built my golem and set it to no avail. I'm just hoping my cloaking staship can maintain it's cloaking after it's protection is stopped, to give meenough time to reconquer a few worlds and outproduce the AI. Missiles will be a must...

Update: No luck. I'm now over 1000 AI progress and only a small fleet. I quickly expanded my resource production and should be able to correct my fleet. I'll use a few missiles to soften up Omega Upsilon then hit with a full fleet, hopefully that should do it.

After re-expanding my fleet again, i sent an EMP missile and a lightning missile through along with my fleet. I did little damage.

Since i have a nasty habit of blasting away every command station and warpgate i come across, plus the fact that the AI progress is about 400 too high (from rather large progress increases and failed rebel colonies), i'm sorely tempted to scrap this game and start over on the same map. I like the map, it's just the settings i picked were a tad too advanced. I figure i'd recycle this thread too.

I'm attaching the save in case anyone else wants to take a crack, though i doubt many could help.

Yeah.

Anyway, i've rebooted with the following modifications:

 * No rebelling human colonies
 * AI progress increases 1 every 30 mins
 * Devourer is now on

Other than that, same map and starting condition.
I sent a scout out, which triggered the alert on Gamma Heta and caused a few ships to attack. Defeated them and built some more forces. So far i've unlocked Harvester Exo-shields, Laser Turrets, and a Cloaker Starship. Further scouting revealed 3 more distribution nodes on other adjacent planets, so i plan to hit those with my cloaked bombers.

Update: i hit one with my cloaked bombers, then failed hitting another (it was protected by an ornery alarm post, SF guard post, and a bunch of engineers :( ). I also unlocked MRSes, Leech Starships MkI, and Cloaker Starships MkII as well as Dreads MkI. I plan to take Gamma Heta and then build a leech starship + MRS or two and go cmapigning with my self-regenerating fleet. Thoughts?

I just sent my fleet into battle and 62 resistance fighter/bombers and 77 frigates are on their way! do i get to control them after they arrive....?

I'm starting to wonder if anyone is still interested/reading these, but here goes...

I used my cloaked knowledge fleet to get a lot more research done, and rebuilt my fleet more. I have that leech starship and MRS in battle on Omicron Sigma with my fleet.

I have a question for those interested: how do you safely ignore a planet without destroying it's command station/warpgate?
