Odd, the exo-waves aren't supposed to stop when the minor-faction Spire spawn, it's supposed to keep coming fast and furious.  In my tests, I had to keep defending myself despite the assistance (though it wasn't as knife-edge a situation).  I saw the same situation in some of the beta-tester games too.  So it sounds like there's a bug in there; do you have a save, preferably before completion of the last structure?

As for the Motherships, remember that they were added much more recently for the purpose of making it harder to win with your own spire fleet.  Since Motherships contain a core-shield-generator (making it impossible for anyone, even the minor-faction spire, to even damage an AI Core Guard Post or AI Home Command Station), they are instantly destroyed by the subspace pulse that the minor-faction spire generate to take down the core-shield-network in the first place.  One thing I could do there is have it spawn a variant mothership that doesn't have the core shield generator.  Depending on placement when spawned, a mothership could actually destroy an entire SD-led fleet, but it's doubtful that it could really make you lose, so that would be ok.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback, sorry about that bug :)

Happened to me as well, also in the game shown in this topic. I can provide a "victory" savegame as I keep those, but not any intermediate saves.

Edit: I have to correct the above a bit, it didn't fully stop spamming exo-waves when my friends arrived, but it also didn't keep up the spammage untill the end either, not at the same intensity at least.

I re examined my game to see if my memory was anywhere near reality...and it wasn't exactly. See, when I was playing the minutes before the final building was completed ion, the crap was really hitting the fan. I was starting to develop a severe bunker mentality, and the perceived threat was much greater then what actually came. The waves seemed to hit every 5 - 7 minutes. This was slower then what the initial rush was, but not too much. The small increase was magnified by my strategic situation. So kudos to your exowaves, I got handed some shock and awe from the AI  :)

I think  enabling an AI mothership with no core shields would be quite sufficient in response. Part of my disappointment was that game felt like an 35 hour journey to get to the point of putting spire ships in AI space, and rather than going out in a bang, it went with a (relative) whisper. A mothership could change that, and would also prevent the AI from wasting points on a instakill mothership (My game had the ai build two, going by the number of pulses issued) The only other thing I could think of would be to have all post-imperial spire fleet exo waves spawn at the AI homeworld, so the AI can at least try to mass their units in reaction.

Life is short. Have fun.
