As my fleet assaults the ARS world a massive battle takes place. My fleet, the AIs+special Forces, the Dyson Gatlings, Zenith Pillar, and dark spire all war for this world. It is glorious.
The battle of five armies ;)  Chaotic games are good for this sort of thing.

I notice that there is a barracks here and a Dark Sprire generator. I sacrifice my ships to activate the generator to stall the barracks spawn.
Moral ambiguity detected to starboard.

The Resistance picked this moment to show up in force so I had a massive patroling defense fleet on my worlds for awhile. Sadly the cookie monster eats them all. Think I might need to turn off one of those two. They do not mesh.
I dunno, that kind of interaction seems quite fitting for a chaotic game!

Spent some points to unlock higher level of the Paralyzers to try. The ship shoots a few to many of the rounds at each ship, causing a lot less mayhem then I originally thought it would.
You mean the paralyzer modules were not spreading out their fire?  Iirc they use the same targeting logic as zenith paralyzers, which have been pretty effective at near-maximum-lockdown since I redid their prioritization/etc.  If you have a save demonstrating this lack of fire-spread I can take a look to figure out what's going on.

Note: fabricators make me sad. They go splat even with heavy defenses placed on the world due to all the CPA fun I am using.
Yea, in a game like yours the only way to keep a fab alive (even if they had 50x as much health as they do) is to make sure it's in your backfield such that the AI never even goes to that planet.

I then discover where the special forces rally to.. The golem consumes them all.
Another army of co-opted machines to send floods of spam-email to the AI with!

Starting to have my doubts as to the worth of the Champion now as well. Noticeable size increases from its 20%. But it doesn't feel like it has made much of a dent against such large waves later on. He works well as a light trouble shooter though.
Remember to also count:
- the extra modular fortress designs you get from nebula rewards
- the splinter faction ships you can build from the won nebulas
- the splinter faction ships that are leftover from won nebulas that patrol your space (until destroyed)
- the extra m+c and/or energy you get from the won nebulas
- the 500 knowledge you (the non-champion part) get per won nebula

All told, it's a fair bit of power gain.  That said, in the latest version I did reduce the % impact of champions on exos.

Could the Ctrl effect to target carriers be allowed to effect Zombies/Resistance ships?
I didn't intend for them to autotarget carriers under any circumstances (minor factions shouldn't pay attention to player controls), will take a look.

Note: The game is on pause for a bit. The combination of the settings, plus the allied ships hunting carriers to ruin my day, has made me decide to take a break. Very exhausting putting out so many fires one after another. Not really having that much fun with the current game. I will probably wait a bit before I try to finish it. Going start a more normal game to relax for awhile.
Yea, the settings you picked are basically tailor-made to exhaust a player :)

I have the mod forts, they are useful I will admit. The splinter faction ships I can build from the nebula sadly don't see much use. Most of them are behind the enemy line so they never join my normal forces unless I send my fleet to jailbreak them. Even then though they will die out and its a bit of a hassle to go retrieve them again. :)

Resources are nice and I forgot about the knowledge bonus. Also about that carrier auto target, I wish the minor factions would kinda ignore the carriers. As is they really do like to hunt them down even when I turned off the auto target. Also, zombies listen to redirection rally posts. Kinda funny ordering the entire zombie army to mass charge at planets I want dead or very helpful in ordering them to worlds I need patrolled, due to the spread out empire.

One of the reasons why having some sort of warp gate for minor faction units would be so nice.

Also, conquered nebulas give resources? How? Does the "mini-foldout" we get produce resources are something?

Yes, the stats on the foldout say so.

Thanks. :)
