Ah, so you're probably a step above me then, as I'm one under hero (Skilled, if I remember right); might be why I wasn't having as much trouble. And I might have just gotten lucky; most of mine were straight shots or had floating island chunks to give a few paths. Only one was a surface to twisty cave, and there was no Rex boss. The RNG turning on you could certainly make that much harder, though.

If I remember correctly, I think that boosted max jump power and wind protection legs are the only thing that a heatsuit doesn't block. Of course, maybe I'm crazy and just don't notice my jump shrinking, considering I almost never use suits.

The only other thing I can think of is maybe switching out some of your spells for something else. I'm using plasma bolt with a +40 light enchant; it doesn't have a lot of stopping power, but it has a bit of knockback, which slows down most things as they're coming towards me. If you're still at tier one, it shouldn't be too hard to pull out something different. But I'm with you; just let it go for now.

. . . Ooo, I have windy lava flats remaining. Time to experiment! ;D

Edit: Having now experimented, a couple things. Jump power is not reduced by heatsuits, nor does it say so. Second, I don't know if knockback slows down Rexs, because the only one I killed in the run was stuck against the side of the screen anyway. Third, I'm pretty sure I got really lucky the first two times.

I recorded my run out of boredom, and it took about 40-45 seconds for me to kill the boss rex. The rexs were doing 60-100 damage a shot, and I ended the mission with less health than my first overlord victory. I did a couple stupid things, but I always do, and they never beat me down this much unless I'm tackling something of a really high tier. Still, I saw the same open maps, most of which, with a couple crates, some good timing, or just an occasional tanking of fall damage or an enemy collision, a lot of the bosses could be skipped over. Also, I think half my microbosses were firebats, which happened before too.

Anyway, I'm out of windy lava flats now on this continent, so don't know what else I can really try out, but mobility and some tanking seem to work well.

Well when all else fails could just build a stack of crates upwards, and attempt not to jump on dinos head... but i think this does bring up a good point, don't put wind shelter in lava flats till ya have teleport :)
