VWW2 - Damage buffed greatly in 0.708?
« on: January 04, 2013, 02:50:38 am »
I suddenly find myself steamrolling all enemies, even though the tile danger hasn't dropped appreciably since the patch and I didn't change perks. Everything is getting one hit killed except bosses, but even they are dying in around ten hits where before it took more than a hundred. Anyone else finding this?

Were you playing as a forgician (tier 1 fire mage) perhaps? I think I may have buffed them too much.

Yeah I haven't played .708 yet, but "over double" damage on their primary makes it do more damage than higher tier primaries. Just throwing that out there.

No, not on that one, it was REALLY low. That, and, in general, every tier is supposed to roughly double in damage.

No really it does seem to do more DPS than the snowcerer's/ashist's primaries now, both of which are tier 2 mage classes. Maybe some others too... Forgician's primary was too weak, but that doesn't mean other classes don't have similar problems that make my statement true. :P

Heh, ok. Fair enough. :)

That said, since you are more experienced playing this game than I am at this point. Any other specific balance comments are definitely welcome.

I am playing a Timbermancer. I don't remember seeing in the changelog that these skills were buffed, which is why I was surprised. It seemed like all skills were more deadly.

Any perceived changes in damage must be taken with the grain of salt that monster power over time has been altered, so that could lead to all sorts of unique bugs.

For example, if the game was balanced so at level 5, you had 15 deaths as the "control group", but the game didn't track deaths till just now, all monsters would seem easier. Purely as an example.
Life is short. Have fun.

Yeah, this is probably exactly what happened. The entire scale of the monsters getting harder was toned down a bit to compensate for the death penalty. So that probably made the monsters all seem easier.
