A few newbie questions

Every time I enter my first settlement, I'm told I should build a farm. I've finally gotten the scroll required to do that but then I'm told I can't build it because there's already an ocean buoy there (or something). What does that mean? What should I do?

Also, what's the quickest and easiest way to access the world map/my settlement? Do I have to warp to the first screen and then walk left?

You use the farm (and all of the main buildings) on the world map.  You can use them on any type of region tile you want except for ocean, but farms are best used in grassland areas.  They wont work if a building or anything else is already occupying the region.

And yes, usually to get out of a region you have to warp to the first screen and then exit from there.  You can also use Elusion Scrolls to instantly exit, but those are costly and are mostly for emergencies.

Okay, so farms don't necessarily go directly on settlement tiles?

And one more question -- I'm told I'm using eight out of ten upgrade enchant slots. The thing is, I only count nine total (assuming I'm reading it right -- r. arm, l. arm, head, torso, etc.). I don't have anything to fill the head slot currently, but even if I did that would only be nine total. Can I equip two enchants in one slot? How? Is there a rogue tenth slot I'm missing? Am I misunderstanding this system entirely?

Oh, the upgrade enchants are sold at one of the Ilari, and each one has a level that determines its effectiveness and the cost in 'upgrade enchant slots'. So, you'll want to be using those as efficiently as possible. If you've got 10 slots, for instance, going with a Health 6, Attack 3, Mana 1 setup or something.

yeah, upgrade slots are for Health/Mana/Attack. You can stack your character one way or balance him out, etc. Get plenty of health.
