Valley 2´s Equipment items: how is it?
« on: January 10, 2013, 09:03:52 am »
Hello!

Equipment in this game works as a buff/debuff with some charges (+2, +5, etc...) that are lost for each hit you receive. It´s not the traditional permanent equipment of most RPGs for sure! It can even ruin your game (for example, if you find a chest in a hole, and it dampens your jump ability, your only way is a poison pill), or improve it ( i´ve found something that morphs your shoots in a 2-way flavour!).

You ocassionally find a chest which has a text telling you what the equipment affects your body. We, as living beings, want to survive, SO, if you understand english very well it´s only a matter of finding a single "harmful" word for not touching it (Shameful boots of... errr see ya!)

Do you think equipment is exciting in this game? if not, what kind of rework needs? Vote!

The way equipment works right now, I honestly only bother with them due to the achievement part.  I've seen talk of good equipment but never gotten anything that made a notable difference.

It's also hard to tell what it does even after you have the equipment. As well as knowing how many hits are left.

Actually, something being shameful doesn't mean it will be harmful. It's the word in the description you left off that tells you that. Shameful means that it's not very effective. So, "Shameful boots of Immolation" are harmful, since immolation means "lighting oneself on fire" But, them being shameful means that they won't cause that much damage.

I found one really really good piece of equipment, and a whole load of useless ones.
I don't really know how to feel about it so far, but it almost seems like equipment should be more common given how rare it is to find a really good piece.

We plan to make it more common. That is one of the many projects I have to work on once I'm back to full strength.

:)  I think its pretty cool, like a grab bag, you know? When you get something and don't know what you get, sometimes its helpful and sometimes its.... ahhhhh! I'm on Fire!!!!!  :)  I like that its unknown and i don't know what i'm getting, and it makes the game, even when i've been working my little fingers to the bone getting all the levels and all the coins and all the perks just.... so.... and then... I'm on Fire!!!!!  :)

I think its very cool and I'm loving it!   :)
