Unlimited rage at those goddamn spiky things
« on: June 29, 2012, 10:09:57 am »
Gentlemen, you know me, and you know that I'm not one to insult everyone because I'm a sore loser or anything like that (in fact you don't know me at all, but follow my lead and don't ask questions, thank you).

Would you kindly look at this?

You probably see a innocent and useless trap causing damage when you're touching it, right?

But here's what I see (mainly because I edited the game to show these instead):

A FILTHY MONSTER WAITING FOR YOU TO GET TOO CLOSE!

Now, let me tell you what's the main problem with those spikes (gonna call them spiky things now, I don't want a brony to insult me because I'm badmouthing a dragon).
The main trouble isn't the ridiculous damage. It's not the fact that those things can jump and get you even when you should be safe, no.
The main problem is that they're acting as GODDAMN BLOODY COVER for those filthy hatless irish monsters shooting at you!
Because, yeah, the game is considering them as monster. So your shots can't go through them.  Which means that a filthy disgusting skeletron can spam his stupid overpowered miasma missile every 1/2 while being totally invincible, since those spiky things are taking all the shots, and, HOW CONVENIENT, cannot be damaged.

A few hours ago, I went to claim the lieutenant's bathroom as my own, since my tap was broken, and I was badly surprised to see that there was a whole goddamn load of those damn  things. And I got killed. And I got killed again. And I was furious. I started speaking german while insulting random people through the window. And then a policeman arrived, and I bite him.
So right now I'm writing that from a cell, in jail, and I would like if you could turn that spiky shitty bloody thingy into somethind dangerous rather than something frustrating. Thank you.
This is the part where I quote someone in an attempt to look clever? Nah, too mainstream. I used signatures before it was cool.

I don't see how calling a spike a spike has anything at all to do with MLP. If anything its (not really) offending characters named Spike that are far older than the current pony craze.

Its a spike, and its annoying to dodge in Indoor freefall missions because theres so damn many of them compared to cavern freefall missions, but thats about all I have to say about them.

Translation: Spikes, due to their invincible nature, should not block shots.

My thoughts: Very much in agreement.

Meet the Pyro was out recently. People started claiming that all the rainbows were MLP references. So now I'm not taking any risk.

That's called a spiky thingy. Filthy monsters are using spiky thingy as cover to hide cowardly from me while I'm storming in someone else's house. That's a really filthy tactic. ALL MAN, NO COVER! COVER ARE FOR THE WEAK! And also the poor and hatless plebs.

Behold! That workman visualized through my volley of vitriolic villifying, and grasped the true form of my verbiage! That feels g...o...o...d...

Agreed that they shouldn't block enemy shots, and they shouldn't interact with enemy movement either. Mainly because today they deciding to really be aggravating in the Abandoned Town; there's nothing quite like realising you can't hurt an urban predator since as it's moved forwards it's pushed spikes along and built a floor-to-ceiling stacked wall of spikes in a narrow corridor so it's impossible to get to it. (While part of me was impressed at the fact that the monster was being being a cheaty smart monster rather than the normal intelligence level, it was still a bit unfair.)

The only spell you should be firing in freefall missions is flamethrower, it suspends you in place, allowing you to avoid almost any set of spikes or monsters perfectly. Combine that with a mana 9 enchant and I've never lost hp in one of these missions. Combine it with a boomstick and you can fly right back up the passage if you want to.

Theres also quite a lot of people who think that is a ludicrous idea and consider it more reasonably as proof the Pyro is as insane as previously expected, or as drugged as expected, since the colors are too pastel and more inline with the D3 secret non-cow level. MLP crazies aren't any worse than other kinds of crazy, they're just much more noticeable to spot from a difference due to preference of bright primary/secondary colors, so I'd worry less about them honestly.

Yeah. But unfortunately, they're louder than your average fanboy.

I'll be right back! I have to take that "rhino bull" skin, replace it with an blue oni, and change the music! That shouldn't be difficult!
EDIT: Or so I thought. But finding sprites is harder than I thought. I may have to take them directly from the original game.

As far as I know, there aren't any of them here. I have nothing against Bronies as long as they don't get too crazy about it, the people who say that Meet the Pyro was MLP themed irk me.

On topic: The freefall mission Spikes don't annoy me at all. I like them in both building and cave missions. It's when they seed to create near or totally impassable areas that I get annoyed.
I can already tell this is going to be a roller coaster ride of disappointment.

These spiky things...evil they are, I tell you. Just went through a lieutenants fort the other night and these things were EVERYWHERE, and god do they hurt! It was quite a challenge getting anywhere without dying horribly to those things. Sometimes I'd have three of them perfectly blocking the only way forward. Gah!
