Turning off enemy lines?
« on: June 16, 2012, 06:19:01 pm »
Normally I only see enemy sight and attack lines during stealth assassination missions, but now they're always on. Can I toggle them off?

They're always on because your character or enchantments have "- Detectability".  You can get rid of them by swapping the enchantment or character, but they're really quite useful as a long-range detection system.

Yeah, being able to tell an enemy is nearby is an amazing ability. It may not be the direct purpose of the cloak of shadows but it's definitely the best thing about it. If I couldn't see enemy aggro range (and thus enemies suddenly opened fire on me, perhaps even from offscreen) TCO would be much, much meaner. The only thing missing from it is the ability to emit light, but that's probably intentionally excluded from possible attached bonuses. Doesn't matter though, all I need my cloak to do is give me a good enough deflection rating bonus because the base detection range reduction is enough.

Maybe certain enemies (besides "minor" enemies) should hide their detection line or something. They wouldn't be immune to detection range reduction but it'd be some sort of stealthy enemy that relies on ambushing you. There'd still have to be a way to detect it in time to avoid taking damage, though.

I might have missed it, but the lines should probably be defined in a popup somewhere.  If it was I missed it.  I'd like to know what all the random white/red lines mean.

The white lines coming from an enemy is basically it's awareness range.  Get close enough for the line to touch you, enemy notices you and attacks.

Red line connecting to you is an enemy that's aware of you.   Usually pursuing.

As for the Cloak, sometimes I wonder if it's a bit OP; alot of parts of the game lose their challenge if the awareness is reduced too much.     Even on the highest difficulties, I'm finding this is the case.  Certainly JtP missions in particular become easy as heck.

And the Stealth missions..... it might be a good idea to rebalance those.  Even without a cloak enchant equipped, the awareness range of enemies in those missions are SO low that you pretty much literally have to actually crash into them before they'll start attacking.  Right now, it's one of the easiest mission types.

And "hidden" enemies like the Lions are easily found just by wearing one of those enchants.
