Remaking Spells?
« on: September 29, 2011, 09:05:27 pm »
I crafted the "Fireball I" spell. Then, experimenting, I crafted the "Fireball I" spell again. I lost resources, but apparently gained nothing. Shouldn't the game prevent you from making spells you already have equipped? Or is there some hidden benefit?

Yeah, currently it's a bit weird that you can make multiple copies of each spell, my hope is that the spells themselves become part of the crafting recipes, because even if you don't make Fireball 1 twice, you will eventually end up with essentially useless copies of  fireball 1, fireball 2, fireball 3 etc (although admittedly I do use my lower level spells, but only 2 out of my 6 copies of the ball lightning spell)

I'm not sure what Keith has in mind for this at this point. I'll ask him to weigh in here.

When crafting, do you notice the text to the right of the "big card" at the top that displays the result?  That text to the right tells you how many of an item you already have, and how many of the same type but lower or higher mark you already have.  If you pay attention to those it shouldn't be possible to not know you're about to craft a "duplicate".

But there are a variety of things we have planned that will make "duplicates" useful.  For one of them, it's not exactly "crafting" with already-made spellgems, but there is some combination involved.
