Suggestion for the forum

FORUMS:
The suggestion for the forums is to either add suggestions/feedback type sub forum, Or merge it with brainstorming. As the game is now out of beta I doubt the Brainstorming area is really needed and instead should be for suggestions/feedback or both. This would also help unclutter the massive suggestions topics in the main forum for AVWW, which would be really nice to see

EDIT: Oops let me better explain the forum suggestion, What I meant mostly was for it to bring Mantis suggestions into there own topic when it is needed. Brainstorming right now should be Suggestion feedback, and the admins can bring them in there if its a heated discussion.

Well I was thinking the converse: that it might be good to have a separate subforum for people to praise or rag on the game in a more general sense - but people would probably be inclined to do that in the main forum regardless, so you're right: maybe it would be useful for more suggestion-ey stuff to go into a subforum for a discussion before being put in Mantis once the ideas take shape.

But then, that might encourage people not to use Mantis at all. And it does conceptually overlap with the brainstorming subforum. I'm not sure!

Well a lot of times people tend to make suggestions when they are leaving feedback, and vise versa.

I think using the brainstorming area and changing it into feedback/suggestion will still end up being pretty much the same. As long as we make clear that suggestions should go to mantis, and that subforum is for discussing those, and leaving feedback for the game

Honestly, I'd rather have people say something in the forums like "Hey! If you like this suggestion, make sure you comment on it and vote for it in this mantis ticket: <link>!" The reason is that that way all the related discussion is in one place, and when it's in Mantis, it's easier for us to see it/act on it.

Now, I've not talked to Chris about this, so he might feel differently than me, but that's my take.

The issue I normally find with small to medium sized communities is that every one only really checks the GBS part of the forum.  So sub forums are where threads go to die.  So I say we keep discussing of things here and go to mantis if we ever want to get something changed instead of just talking about getting it changed.
