Some questions...
« on: July 15, 2012, 11:19:06 am »
Howdi,

so i spend about 3 hours playing the Demo. The goal seems to be to kill leutnants to weaken the overseer and then kill the overseer. In order to do that, you run around and collect crafting materials and do bonus missions. What i did is randomly do some missions to find enchants (?) and go really deep into some caverns. I think i freed a prisoner and i found a whole lot of saphire and really few opal.
Now, would i would like to know for now:

- How can i get food for the guys in the settlement ? They are all starving
- can you craft enchants ? If so, how ?
- I can only create a ball of lightning spell and a rock throw lvl 2 (which i already have). What am i missing in order to create my own spells (can i?)

For food, you need to build farms -- a full guide to the citybuilding sections of the game is here: http://christophermpark.blogspot.com/2012/07/strategy-guide-for-citybuilding-in.html

You can't craft enchants, but you can use seeker enchants on your head slot to influence what you get.  Enchants are procedural loot, like in diablo or borderlands.  You can also buy a random enchant at the opal guardian store, too, though.

In order to craft your own spells, the requirements really vary.  The best way to look for specific spells that you might want (and then see what ingredients you need to collect) is to open the planning menu and then click Big Honkin' Encyclopedia.  There is then a Crafting Grimoire which has all the information for spells that have been unlocked.  You can even add these spells to your "loot goals" in order to then have your intermediate goals (of what ingredients to find) show up on the right of the menu any time you hit escape.

Hope that helps!

I thought it was a bit odd that I start the game with no farms and all of the guys in my settlement starving. How did the settlement survive this long?

I've been playing for hours and still haven't gotten enough cash to build a farm. I keep waiting for my guys to start dying :(

They won't die -- they'll just be unhappy. And as for how the settlement has been surviving, the answer is "not well." Hence the dozen or so graves and three living souls.

Cash is not the preferred way to get farms; keep an eye out for them in secret missions as you explore around.

Hope that helps!

I thought the Ilari could keep people alive even without food or heat. Not really happy with it, but alive. Or is that not quite canon any more? Or are the graves just people who, while sustained by the Ilari physically, just couldn't handle the stress mentally and died of other causes?

Yep, that's still the canon.  The graves and so forth were people who left the protection of the Ilari.
