Cheers, folks!

And good thinking on the cave backgrounds.  I'll have to introduce more "crystal caves" type backgrounds in general.  Not for everywhere, but to sprinkle in quite a bit more than is currently happening.  I think that they will stand out more if some of it is just dull rock, and others are these crazy crystal backgrounds, etc.

As an added note, energy pulse no longer strikes background objects. That was annoyingly deforesting areas for a lot of players.

Ahh, energy pulse no longer hits background tiles. That was the only reason I used that spell, to deforest areas.

Are there any long range spells that hit background objects now? because destroying boiler tanks whilst standing next to them feels pretty stupid (I'm not crazy right those do damage you?), Though admittedly a quick blast from miasma whip and running away works perfectly.

There are not, but I'd like to make something more like a grenade that will do so. :)

To check whether i was crazy I stood next to a couple, and I'm still not sure whether they damage you, the shrapnel explosions seems like it should be damaging things (there is an impact noise, enemy health bars pop-up) but the most damage i have been able to attribute to them is about 0.2 points, and irregularly at that.

They definitely will damage you, but I don't recall it being an enormous amount.  And you have to actually be hit by one of their pieces of shrapnel.  I may need to do some testing with those to make sure that they are balanced properly.

Or, as the case may be, perhaps those are currently using the wrong collision model and no longer "hate everybody" but instead are just "on the monster team."  (Those are our internal terms for them, actually -- though you might be amused).

Mossy Barrels still definitely hurt players with their shrapnel.

That's gonna leave a mark...

I lost a deforestation spell and gained a high power ranged attack. It's really expensive to use (but then again not MUCH more than ball lightning...) and I got it to T2 before anything else so it's a one hit kill for most enemies.

Just noticed this in the patch notes about the new storm fist:

amazingly, since we've been so busy with other parts of the game, this is the first new spell since December 22nd!

Which isn't actually true since healing touch was added recently.
