As it turned out there was a door on the other side of the 1 gap with some bonuses... it just didn't go anywhere afterwards. Btw I have no idea what a duck slide is, I sort of jimmied my way through with a combination of ducking and moving.

Yeah I assume that's a bug. I've noticed that you can do that but I forgot to bug report it. If you keep pushing towards the wall and ducking over and over you will slowly wedge your way through gaps.

That's actually a feature, not a bug: it's yet another way to get out of a horizontal space that you powerslid into.

Ah, ok. Unfortunately, just as useful for someone who is committed to wedging themselves through a 1 tile gap into a lower area that they can't escape from. Although at that point you probably just have to accept that you're really asking for it. It takes a fair bit of effort to jam yourself in there, so I don't see it as likely that anyone who did it would then be overly surprised when they can't just jump back out.
