Nope, sorry. Chris (x4000) was out of the office last week, and the two weeks prior to that the guys at Valve were super busy with the Summer Sale. I'll talk to Chris about getting with Valve on this soon.

*sigh* Go Valve time :/ It doesn't look like they're ever going to fix this :(

Now, on page 8 this is what this thread seems to be about. That by now it's almost obvious that this will never happen. The thing is even if valve comes back to arcen with a straight answer like "forget it never gonna happen" arcen would not have any leverage to change this. The fact that they (valve) keep silent does not make the situation any better.

And here I originally thought it didn't work just because I had an oddly-formatted alpha key.  I was only reminded to check for news about the status of it by the Steam sale on AVWW today.  Any month now Valve'll say something one way or another...

At least then I'd know to just go buy it on steam already. I've kind of stopped playing while waiting on steam to happen, so I've kind of stopped playing for a looooooooong time now...

Re: The oddly formatted alpha key thing, I was wondering too, because as it turned out my Steam copy's key is in a <self redacted> format and my alpha key (which also hasn't activated but I bought another during Summer Sale) is in the same format but with 1 less character. Just in case anyone was curious, I tried adding the first character of the Steam one to the start of the alpha one but sadly that didn't work! :P Curses, foiled.

Going to gift that to a friend if/when it finally activates on Steam, though.

By alpha, I really do mean alpha, not beta, and it's different from that one and the ones my friends got during the beta (which also obviously don't currently work on Steam).  I'm not exactly going to complain if it doesn't end up working for me, but I understand people being more frustrated if they actually paid money for it.  Heh.

So let me share a little story that happened to me recently.

Din's Curse just came out on Steam. Over at the Soldak forums someone asked if prior purchasers could redeem their game on Steam. The developer replied that he wasn't sure but that people who were interested could email him and he would see what he could do.

I had bought Din's Curse myself last year so I fired him off an email with proof of my non-Steam purchase of the game stating that I really didn't expect it, but that if he could manage to get a Steam key for me I would be most appreciative.

The next day I had a Steam key and was able to register it. THE NEXT DAY.

So either Arcen are making excuses because they don't want to say no and look like bad guys or they have some really bad contacts at Valve who are not being helpful and/or they just aren't trying hard enough.

I'm not saying they have to get the Steam keys for the prior purchasers in the first place, but if they aren't willing or able to do it for whatever reason just come out and say it. Don't string people along.

Steam Keys from direct purchases work on Steam for all of Arcen's other games, so I see no reason that they specifically want to restrict AVWW.
I can already tell this is going to be a roller coaster ride of disappointment.

What he said. There's never been any issues at all with the other products, but for some reason AVWW is just not happening and Valve is stonewalling :/
