I thought you just bought everyone off in order to get your fans. I'm still waiting on my big check, by the way.

Oh.

Well, time to change my address...

I can see the Your Opinion Is Invalid Because You're A Fanboy argument taking on Godwin's Law-like proportions amongst some newcomers to this forum

Calling people names never proved anything, so we can stop right there. There is no argument to be heard.

Even funnier because usually it's the reverse ,) It's the primary reason i do not help (as in, post constructive criticism and some obvious flaws) in forums when I lurked them a while and noticed some things beforehand. For example, had you told me posting on Soldak requires my post to be approved (obvious anti-spam thing) I would not have posted there at all. Not because I dislike the practice (no, in fact its a good idea) but because when it takes a day or so for my topic to appear that means a day of me being very closely interacting with the game is gone without anything coming out of it. By the time the topic appears, I already moved on unless it's like.. a game about Ponies, or something. I am hugely erratic in my Interest, and just because I buy a game, does not mean it even holds my attention for longer than an hour when I read a topic about an old game I'd really like to play again (Mhh, starlancer!)

As for the Steam thing, it's probably because the keys are keygenned would also be activate*able on steam and steam sorta took a stance against this lately. It does not make me hugely unhappy because the auto-patcher in AVWW is superior to steam any day of the week, but I sure would like to see it in my library properly.

But seeing as its now been what 8 weeks and nobody yet said it works, I am gonna assume it's never gonna work ;) At least that way, we can stop caring ;p

I just realized we are not in the off topic forum. We might want to dial down a bit.  :) I know I will.

Yep. It sounds quite likely.

If that were the case I'd still like to know, because I would be crazy enough to re-buy the game on Steam just to have it properly in my library. Yes, I know that's ridiculous, but I am vaguely OCD about my Steam games.

But would Steam say even if they flat out refused to activate the keys? Arcengames is trying but at the end, it's Steam that has to do it. And when Steam takes that long for something that usually goes pretty fast I have to assume they won't do it. For now, manually adding it to the library is "just as good" but like you, I would prefer it being on steam proper.

It's almost as good. The only issues are that it doesn't track my time in game, which I have found that I really like having, and it doesn't do background screenshots without me having to take a bunch of screenshots myself. That isn't so bad, but I don't like the fact that it then shows me thumbnails of the screenshots on the game's page in my game list. For some reason that strikes me as just terribly messy. If there were a way to track game time and not show those thumbnails for non-steam games I would probably not worry so much about having every game on Steam.

I've never seen Valve take this long for an established developer with several games already on Steam... :-\

I went ahead and created a support ticket it for Valve (linked below). Support Tech Paul responded with"Retail copies and other digital versions of this game cannot be registered through Steam."

Now, several things could be happening here as Paul probably is not responsible/doesn't know about future games being registered. Paul may be just reiterating that at this time, you cannot register the game (we already know that). I just hope that in the busyness of everything, Valve hasn't forgot about this. I guess I just need to learn to be more patient as I am sure it will happen eventually.

Well if that's the case, it would've been great of them to actually inform Arcen of this.  All it takes is a simple "Yes, but not yet." or "No". This limbo is getting a bit old. Now, personally, I just bought another Steam copy. I might gift my alpha key away once I find someone that likes the game but doesn't already have it.

Front line support personnel never know anything. As someone who does a similar job, I can promise you that.

Well, Paul is right, at this time, they can't be registered through Steam (at least, not at this time). I can't speak to what is going on at Valve's end, but, we did recently ask them again about this issue. We're still waiting for their response.

Its one of the only reasons I haven't put much time into the game yet, I like have the steam game time counter and achievements (I know its stupid I cant help it) just hoping it gets done soon or they tell us no off the bat so I can buy it off steam. :)

Steam registry has a new entry called A Valley Without Wind External Registration.

http://marlamin.com/cdr/view.php?type=sub&id=15209

So it should be letting us register pretty soon. It was added just a few minutes ago so codes aren't working yet at least.
