Is Steam cloud support a possibility for this title, down the road?  I'm not sure what the file size limit is, but my instincts tell me it's too small to accommodate a very aged world.
I don't believe that Steam Cloud will work for this title for the simple fact that the game is constantly using the files as it runs. The Steam Cloud would get in the way of that and cause quite a few problems.

Hmm, that is not why we don't have Steam Cloud, but I can't recall what Chris said about it that he didn't want to do.  You can use clouds like Dropbox though to keep games like this "in the cloud".

Well obviously there's a non-trivial development cost. I remember for AI War it was a simple case of it not being a feature the developers themselves were interested in; but if community support were strong enough then they would do it.

For Valley, I imagine the file size is an issue. I read somewhere once that Terraria doesn't support it due to filesize restrictions.

That's probable.

Yeah, I'm doing this now, and it works perfectly.  I just thought Steam Cloud integration would be a more elegant solution.

For the gamersgate copies, will we be able to just use the gamersgate serial to activate on steam?

Quick request, when we're able to redeem codes on steam - could we get the topic's title changed to reflect that? Will keep me from obsessively checking the thread when I'm on the forums and see new posts here!

I purchased AI War on GamersGate back when it came out, and my key worked with Steam.

here's a reverse question.

If I buy the game on steam, can i use that key to unlock the stand alone version?

Thanks.

Yup. The key you get from any of these websites works universally with the base client of the game. :) So make sure you save it somewhere, though Steam does store it in the client as well.

Very happy with this. The last time I downloaded something "DRM free" was all of Professor Elemental's albums.

There was no account registration involved, and I lost the mp3 files in a hard drive wipe, and found I had no way to get the albums back as the download link I was given had expired.

It's just so much easier to have things bound to an account of some kind. When it comes to video games though, you've gotta buy direct from the devs if it's an option.

By the way, when we are able to redeem on steam, will all the achievements we previously got be given out? Or are there some that we'll miss out on? Just curious if I'm going to want to start a new world or not.
