I'll just leave this here
http://www.outofeight.info/2012/04/valley-without-wind-review.html

And to add my two cents:
I feel this game has come a long way since i tried an earlier version. All i remember is killing a few guys that didn't give me anything and getting helplessly lost in buildings i found.
Now it's much more accessible... and after i've read somebody comparing it to metroid*, i like it even more. Didn't see it in that light previously.

*(which i played some time in the mid 90s? the good old 2ds)

I have noticed some comments on steam where people were saying the game looked horrible/thrashy but then when they played the demo it became a must buy. That's really nice to see.

I still don't really get the hatred for the graphics, the whole "makes my eyes bleed" is such an OTT reaction.  AVWW isn't a visual stunner...but then that really isn't where it's strength lies. (Although the game does look so much nicer in motion than in static screenshots)

Happy to see it's doing well at the moment.

AVWW has stayed in the top 10 when I've checked. Seems to be duking it out with Skyrim ATM, which I find oddly hilarious.

Yeah, since we hit the top 10 it's been continuous.  We've dropped to #9 several times, but I think that's the worst it's done so far.  At the moment it's back up to #6, where it's trying to get back ahead of Serious Sam 3 again.  Last night it did, but only briefly, before falling again.

No idea how long this will last, but it's sure nice while it does!

I'd say being #6 with everyone above you being on deep sales is definitely an achievement all things considering.  :).  As for the Walking Dead, its cheating with having a book and TV series behind it ;)

Torchlight II and The Walking Dead are the only two new titles above AVWW currently.  That's an amazing feat, I say.

I bought AVWW on steam and I like it! I just completed the first area and I got to the settlement. I love the art style, it's very unique and works. I also like how game makes dungeon exploring feel exiting, constant danger but also fun rewards.

The storm dash spell things (that I found at very start), the one that makes you run extremely fast with a trail of fire and a sound of lightning, is the most fun thing ever!  :D

Just wanted to give a quick congrats on the release; been more of a lurker the last few months, but I've been following the progress and everything seems to have come to a fun place.  Good stuff, and I hope you can continue to reap the rewards of a good game financially, to complement the good reviews.

Cheers!

It's official: A Valley Without Wind has now out-grossed Tidalis, and by about a 20% margin already.  Again, that speaks more to how poorly Tidalis did than anything else, but it's certainly encouraging for AVWW as well.  The 3:1 ratio of it compared to AI War sales is also so far holding, which is also encouraging.

Thanks for the congrats and the kind words, folks!
