Pretty sure this is a glitch.
« on: July 17, 2012, 07:59:47 am »
So I powerslid into a room and got myself stuck.

I got myself unstuck through... probably unintended means.

It's very, very easy to reproduce.  Just powerslide into the room and try jump-crating.

I uploaded the save to Mantis and made a ticket, but it was declared "not a bug".  I realize the description was kinda lengthy, so I made a video for added clarification.  I apologize if my description on the Mantis ticket was insufficient.

I admit it looks weird, but, the alternative is to get stuck and die in the wall. It used to work this way so what we did was make the game throw you to a random part of the room when you get stuck.

Hm.  Why is a character able to place a crate on top of themselves?   Removing that would get rid of the ability to push one's self into walls and ceilings.  Either that, or crates shouldn't push characters around.

Especially, I believe crates shouldn't have collision detection in mid-air.  Infinite jumps for the cost of a crate per jump is really, really inexpensive.

I could go for that. A rather simple solution for a whole host of problems.
That, and having crates be unable to push players around would be good (though, care would have to be taken to keep crates that are still and "settled" to still block players from moving through them or pushing them around, but "falling" or not yet "settled" crates (like a crate resting on someones head) should not push players around. The sizing up to fit logic may be helpful here)

I just got stuck in this verysame room (mirrored), in my first boss tower--came here to see if anyone could give me a hint on how to get out. The box works great. nice trick.
