Overlord: What am I doing wrong?
« on: March 24, 2012, 05:22:50 pm »
I've got several tier 5 spells, killed all of the lieutenants, and made it to the Overlord's room.  No matter how much firepower I lay into him, he regenerates it immediately.

I tried returning to the settlement and cranking the difficulty down, but I still can't make a dent in him.

What am I missing?

If he's regenerating it immediately, that sounds like a bug to me. I've fought one so far, and while he was regening, it was around the rate of 1 hp a second, and this was back when they had millions of hp and you were hitting for tens of thousands.

Is it the skelebot or draconite overlord?

Skelebot overlord, on the first continent.  When I turned it down to minimum difficulty, he has a total HP of around 7000.  Doesn't sound like too big of a problem at first.  I do 300-400ish damage a shot with T5 Energy Pulse and something equally impressive with T5 Miasma Whip.

He literally regenerates faster than I can hurt him when I spam both attacks at the same time.  I can't think of anything else to use on him.

It's a bummer since I really want to see the new region types on the next continents.

(Edit for more accurate numbers)

He has 7807 HP.
Energy Pulse 5 does 322 damage on his body or 644 on his face.
Miasha Whip 5 does 227 damage on his body or 457 on his face.

In one second he regenerated from 6249 to 7030.  My DPS is not high enough to get him lower than that before I run out of mana (I have 606 maximum mana).

I'm going to add this to Mantis for now.

Holy cow!  Skelebot overlords are not supposed to have regen anymore!  That's definitely a bug, and no wonder it's impossible.  Whoah, thanks for finding that one.  :o

Can you post a save of this, actually?  I think this is an old-world syndrome thing.  We did remove the regen from them, but apparently overlords that existed prior to the regen removal instead got super-regen.

Yea, I just repurposed the old skelebot regen for the draconite mission, since I figure nobody was using it anymore :)  If you like you can just set that particular condition to do nothing or automatically remove itself, and we can add a new one for draconites.

I just added a fix to the mantis issue that was posted about this: http://www.arcengames.com/mantisbt/view.php?id=6813

I just added a field for that one that says "if not in starting conditions, then remove from entity."  Worked like a charm, and then no need to have another DeprecatedDoNotRemove item, heh.
