I think it's because you mentioned that you're on a quest to finish this game, despite the fact that it's in very, very, very, very early beta and it's an essentially infinite game.

Other than that, the forums here are kinda slow anyways.
It's just carriers all the way down!

Sorry, I just thought you were a bot or trolling so I didn't click the links  :-\ Saying 'finish" AVWW is like saying finish counting to the end of the natural number sequence  :o

Unless you had something specific in mind as your definition of 'finish'? Until you reach some particular civ level or somesuch?

Not bad so far, you really should fix the tags however.  It kind of makes it more difficult to get to the next video when you tag it with every game except valley without wind (and a number of other irrelevant tags).

The reason there were no bosses at the end (furthest to the left) is I believe they only show up if the area has a resource deposit. Since they're guarding those. Unless they're the rampaging monster type (like the one you found at the end of the second video), they're in the first area you enter.

Good luck, looking forward to the next part!  :)

No falling damage.

And it's post-apocalyptic on a whole other scale: the fabric of time and space itself has been ripped apart and randomly thrown back together again.

Nice vids I was just wondering what you use to record and encode the quality is really good. Also how big are your upload files for You Tube?

Looking forward to the next episode keep it up.

Use fraps to record my videos and Windows movie maker to render. When I upload the file is around 500 megs but 10 gigs before render and set resolution to 16:9 'cause my moniter sucks. Anyway hope you enjoy make a post later linking to the two new videos.

Nice vids I was just wondering what you use to record and encode the quality is really good.

Fraps is the standard and has been for a while, but when I didn't feel like paying for it and needed something that could record longer than the trial version allows, I looked around for alternatives.  I discovered Taksi, which is both free and open source.  The latest stable/non-beta release is very old, but there are dev versions that are much more recent and support more stuff.

It is absolutely in no way as convenient as Fraps, and it takes more codec knowledge/configuration to get it set up right, but for being free it's pretty nice, and you have more options than with Fraps in some ways by being able to choose your own recording/encoding options.  If you have a fast hard drive/SSD, you can actually record completely lossless video using something like HuffYUV, or if you have a fast enough CPU you can compress it in real time to save a lot of disk space.  I was able to capture and encode AVWW to high-bitrate XviD at 1920x1200 in real time while playing on an i5-750 without slowing the game down at all, and someone else said they've had similar success with one of the "ultrafast" H.264 presets, which is kind of crazy.  It looks like it actually even lets you use the Fraps codec if you have it installed, but I haven't tried that.  Heh.

Enjoying your video's so far, interesting to see how others play this. btw on the strategic map if you left click on one of the faded out tiles the currently selected character will scout out that area for (I think) 20 TU's and some yellow shards. What this does is tell you if there are any commodety towers, evil outposts etc in that area, which will only appear on the overworld map on area's level 10 and below or area's that you or an NPC have scouted, to scout yourself all you need to do is run through every surface chunk of an area, which is long and irritating so a steady amount of scouting by your NPC is very useful in planning what you are wanting to do.

And at the moment the mazes have nothing special in them yet, so you can hold off exploring them for now without missing anything

Also your claim to beat AVWW is impressive, this being a game of infinate length, should you manage it I will gladly hand you all my money and property and name all my children after you, in recognition of such an achevment
Its a brick!
