Well, back from work, going to try searching again.  If not, I'll probably do it the unnatural/lame way: abandon character several times until I get the type of profession.  Then, switch out to another character, then when's it's time to move continents, switch to that character and head to a pier.  Arrive at new continent, choose another character.  Rinse and repeat.

I'm beginning to think rescue missions only really appear on a particular tier, possibly three beacuse I think apoths need to be T3 to use those seek survivor scrolls anyway.  Can someone confirm this?  (I know, it wouldn't make sense since there are other NPC's that can use powers at lower levels but still.)  I remember that in the tutorial continent rescue missions would appear like CRAZY at around T4 or T5.  I've been at T2 at this second continent for about 4 days now (a few hours each night) and not...a...single....rescue mission.  Do I need to increase the tier?  I've searched large buildings, ice age buildings, pyramids, small buildings, caves, the works.  There's still more places that I can search but it's just more zones of the same places I"ve been looking at and I really don't think this searching for something this important should take this long.  Or maybe just finding these type of missions "period," shouldn't take this long.

I'm guessing luck. I'm on T4 and still have never found an apoth. and only found 3 rescue survivor missions total

I'd love to cast a 'seek survivor' scroll. But I fail to find a survivor with the skill that's needed.
Not having the one, to build wind shelters, doesn't help too. The secret mission I found where
almost just lava escape missions, which may the ones I like the less. The good thing is, I may be
still on continent 2 after next couple of updates or so.  :D

Edit:
Okay, I'm in for a new personal record. Three ice age buildings, with up to 10 stash rooms.
One secret mission. Stealth assassination. I guess I just stay on continent two until. Forever.  :P
No, but really. I still like the game. I just get the feeling I'm so stuck, I could as well start over.
That's a bit tedious.  :-[

The only thing I can suggest to anyone have problems is what others have suggested before: abandon your character until you get one.  This will require using up transplant scrolls though.  (You can see your profession if you're controlling him or her.)  Once you get one, ALWAYS use that NPC to move to the next continent, then switch upon arrival.

I got my apoth by doing this.  Not exactly the way I wanted to do it, as it's a bit cheap.  But no other choice.  Now if I can only find a mission that gives an apoc tower.....(but at least ANY mission can give that.)

EDIT:  Actually GOT a mission.  Pyramid, though it wasn't an apoc.  Still was a bit much but at least I'm proceeding now.

Heh, then this is the revenge for not dying that much on continent one, and until just one time on two.
I have to kill myself to proceed. But I think I will/have to do it. Thanks for the advice. With my luck
at gambling and random chance I'll get one survivor mission out of fifty, and then it's no one I need.  ;D

So, what do you know, I choose a character just from his looks, and it was apoth.
I still can't build windmills. And my three seek surviver enchantes brought me the possibility
to rescue ten stonebinders. Bum luck that I need an aquaaurigist(not sure I spelled it right).
Maybe I should just go on killing characters until I get one. :D

A simple "Seek Profession" scroll that would allow you to create a rescue mission in the territory you're standing on for whatever profession you choose would fix most of the situations with missing Lumbermancers and Apoths.  Heck, you could even make a new mission type for it.

My big beef with the survivor rescues is that once you get a new type, you might not get to see them again for several respawns.  I usually get about 20 skelebots and MAYBE 1 of each other time period.  And you NEVER get Draconites, which drives me crazy.

There really seems to be something wrong with the way it chooses characters for respawn.    It seems like most players have the "tons of robots" issue.

It's gotta be a bug.  I counted 12(!) Skelebots and 4 other characters in my last respawn.  It's a little ridiculous and encourages me to suicide the 'bots (Who conveniently don't leave ghosts!) until I get a character that looks like they have potential.

Then I have to repeat that every time I die.
