How to get to new continent?

So, I've "unlocked" a new continent some time back.  How the heck do I *go* to this new continent?  I don't see it in the ocean, no matter how far I stretch out my buoys.  I can't find anything in the in-game help about this -- lots of mentions of new continents, but nothing about the mechanics of travel to them.  What am I missing?

Go to a port region on the edge of your current continent, press enter to hop in a ship, and sail around until you find the new continent   It should display a "Continent 2" indicator on the edge of your screen in the direction to go.
