How do I give rampant monsters what they want?

My quest log says that rampant monsters are demanding 10 wood and 5 granite - I have found them on the overhead map but when I go there, there is no way to offer them the tribute.

You have to do it from the strategic map -- which doesn't become available until civ level 6.  That may need some clarifying work!

That's what I was kind of suspecting so the big question now is - how do I raise my Civ Level?

I found this very confusing when I was starting out. Over time it all starts to make sense and on reaching level 6 the pieces start to fall into place.

Gain EXP by defeating bosses, and your Civ level increases from there.   Hope that helps!

I've always just given them ball lightning tribute   Helps to raise your civ level too!

It was getting a little crazy there while I had a blue node linked though, I was fighting off attacks like every few turns it felt like.

Also, the ice bat is really hard to see against the snow background on strategic map.  Fortunately it has that turn warning thing, so I was able to deal with it, but without the warning I wouldn't have even noticed it.

From the next release:

• Monsters on the world map are now drawn with a bit of an animation to their scale, making them much easier to see regardless of what background they are on or how thick their border is.
