Ah yeah... With more people, it'd become obvious pretty quickly what the popular suggestions are, with all the discussion between them rather than directly with you guys. But personally I frequently forget to actually vote on Mantis issues I agree with. Mostly because it seems pointless with the current amount of suggestions; they seem quite managable without having to only look at the ones with lots of votes. I also prefer to add a note explaining why I support a change or such rather than just vote. That speaks much louder and in greater detail than just bubbling in "strong support," although of course I'll do both... Just, the former thing feels more important right now, unless you really do consider the votes.

Well, we're a community in flux at the moment, since we're going through growth spurts here.  So a lot of things do work now that might not work if we get a lot larger again.  Obviously we take into account comments and so forth on mantis issues, if they add something to the topic in particular.  But the vote tallies give us a more concise view of what is and is not popular when it's an edge-case issue that perhaps we aren't personally all that directly interested in.  Sometimes it's a configuration option that we wouldn't use but some constituency considers vital to their enjoyment, or so on.

Certainly doing both never hurts. :)

I certainly wouldn't call it something to be "guilty" of ;)  I think it's a good thing that people go and do other stuff and then (usually) eventually come back with a different set of experiences, etc.

One nice thing about doing AVWW is it gives people who really liked AIW but had their fill (after a few dozen/hundred hours of a specific game some people are just done, nothing wrong with that) a reason to become more involved for a while :)

Well I am somewhat easily distracted, but it's sort of a behavior that I've had to train myself into. I had a bad habit in the past of getting overly invested into games, to the point where they became more of a chore than an enjoyable pastime. And yet by that point I was usually so involved that it was hard to extricate myself from the spot that I'd wedged myself in to. Many ages ago I played the HL mod Natural Selection (which was awesome) so much that I eventually got involved in a cal-o competitive team and had to schedule time for practice and scrims and matches and blah blah blah. By that point I was actually a little sick of playing NS, but now I was involved in a team that was reliant on me to fill a slot, so I didn't have an easy out. When I finally broke out of that, I cleverly moved on to playing WoW all the time. Derp. So yeah, it was no time before I was involved in a raiding guild and once again had a schedule of time I had to be on and playing.

Once I finally got out of that mess, I've been a lot more careful about getting involved in anything that I can't easily drop if I get tired of it. So, a lot more single player games. Although Guild Wars 2 is looming on the horizon... But that doesn't look likely to develop crazy raiding guilds, and there's no monthly subscription to give the subconscious feeling that I 'should' be playing the game to get my money's worth out of it. So hopefully I can manage to enjoy that like a reasonable person.

One reason it wouldn't work as well with Call of Duty is that people perceive and often think about PvP multiplayer games differently than they do singleplayer/co-op games like AI War or AVWW, and there are a lot more variables in PvP - if you're playing against an AI and one of the weapons it uses against you feels much harder to deal with than the rest, it's probably going to feel that way for most people, and is probably a problem.  In PvP games, you don't have a relatively static AI opponent to gauge things against, so feedback that a weapon or tactic is too strong could either mean that it actually isn't balanced or that it just works really well against the most popular current tactics but has decent counters to it.

There's also the minor issue of CoD having lots of teenagers playing it, which combined with a general human dislike for losing about half the time doesn't make for a particularly... productively focused community.  :D

I have a suggestion, since the game doesn't like to make window modes easy to tell.  Whenever one is playing in window mode, and accidentally clicks outside the boundry, that the game pauses.   I can't express how many times this has been a problem.  The changes in the option menu aren't always expressed in the mean future.

I gotta say, this is a VERY nice release. Feels much more stable, polished, and, well, fun than the original 1.0. Great job guys!

Not saying free of major issues of course.* However, there are significantly less than there were in 1.0. This is not a dig against 1.0, but rather a congratulations about how well you are able to update and maintain your games based on feedback from the community. :)

* Here are a few major issues I was able to pick out, ordered by my judgment of importance (descriptions are my own):
-There are still performance problems causing stuttering
-Missions sometimes do not expire when their expiration time comes
-Traps are not doing anything
-Exploding background props too strong
-Stash rooms are still mostly not worth the time compared to the opal stone store

I think part of what inspires discusion is just how /intresting/ the base idea for the game is.
I mean, I bought it just to see how it had been implemented. I wasn't even expecting the game to be good! (which it very much is)

The genre and mechnics lend themselves well to having a community full of ideas, and attracts the kind of people who have some idea of how to balance/design/e.t.c

Throw in the interaction with the Devs, and their own ideas (You guys are really creative in your solutions at times) and I've probably had more fun discussing this game then actually playing it ^^'

It's inspiring honestly. Reminds me that I need to get back into game development asap.
