Okay, my big big big bad :(

I finally noticed what the dungeon map was doing, weird, I never noticed before :/ it helps a lot ! Once you know it ! Lol

Everything was normal, I just didn't noticed the black bar and the color changed until x4000 told me ! Which changed a whole lot for me ! This is just great !
Now, I still don't understand what the colors refers to ? Why is it blue and sometimes green ? Gray is a destroyed room for sure but the other colors ?

Also, yes I noticed on the other map the color of the doors changing but what's with the color of the doors in game ? So black / red is a destroyed room, I know that for sure, but why are the doors brown or gray ?
I thought gray was just the direction to the way out but I was totally wrong it looks like ?
That would be nice if it was... All gray door lead to the exit.
Same for dungeons but with a little indicator above the door maybe ? I think it would make navigation easier too unless it's already the case ? But I got a house yesterday where the gray door was just something else ?

Another note is I don't get any guardian powers? I did 3 missions yesterday and I didn't get an guardian powers... Is that normal ? I thought they were implemented ? Maybe I'm wrong, or didn't understand what x4000 said correctly ?

But then again thanks for your help and especially helping the dumb man that I am to notice what you did ! Lol

Saolite: you're running into a combination of problems there.  Firstly the lack of instruction, of course.  But also the lack of balance in the current version when it comes to the increasing tiers and such.  A lot of the latter (and a smaller bit of the former) are resolved in the next version, to come out this morning.  We'll definitely want feedback as we go through polishing all this stuff, because we want to make this a lot smoother for new and returning players.  But it's getting there, in some respects!

Question that I might as well put here as anywhere: do the health drops increase as tier goes up? I really haven't compared to be sure, but it seems in general I'm getting about 3-4% HP back from a kill. What determines this? If enemies do more damage as tiers go up it seems like you'd want to drop more health orbs to balance it out. Although I almost feel like you should drop more orbs even at tier I, as I was finding my health in general getting chipped away downwards on basic exploration and item collecting missions, until I have to go back to the home settlement and heal up.

I had many of the same questions as the OP, though eventually figured out the numerous changes -- after about two hours of searching in-game and navigating through all the menus. I'm glad that there's going to be an "extended tutorial" in the future covering the recent changes.

Out of curiosity, will this new tutorial include the spell tier system? My first time playing ( after all the recent changes ) I was a little confused, since there wasn't any spellgem crafting. After a while I got the hang of it, though as I understand it thus far, you need some unlocks or allow the enemy to progress higher before getting access to the higher tier spells?

There seemed to be a few points where the enemy, particularly bosses, were increasingly difficult and higher on progress themselves without having access to higher tier spells. I'm not sure if that was intentional and my character simply had bad statistics for these fights or if I missed something to get the higher tier spells.

There were a number of issues that caused these things, including a couple bugs. Some of them should be released in today's release, and the rest hopefully by the end of the week.

As far as what will be included, if we do it right, all the important elements of the game will be easy to pick up very early on in the game. If this isn't the case by the end of this week, we'd like to know.

Currently they do not; that's definitely a problem at the moment, and one of the balance things we have to look at this week.

I was going to reply and explain what all the different colours on the maps meant... but I've forgotten!

I'll be updating the page on the wiki that tells what all the colors on the map are once I get some of the other stuff I'm working on done. I can say that we do appreciate you guys sticking with us through this time of flux in the game. I can assure you that working out how best to present the game and how to make the game understandable to as many people as possible is our current focus before we hit Beta Stage 3.

Thank you and everyone else who cleared this up so quickly! It's extremely awesome when developers take time out to answer questions or concerns.

Another thing I noticed from the last time I played, particularly in the current tutorial. Before, those two large dark bats in the tutorial dungeon were extremely easy ( too easy, so I'm glad that changed! ), though now it seems that no matter what type of starting character I have, I seem to have trouble with them.

Either my health is low when venturing into a boss cave, due to the normal enemies whittling away my health,  requiring me to go back out to the illari stone ( in the tutorial ) or a settlement ( when beyond the tutorial )  and come back to kill the boss or risk it with what little health I do have. Even when at full health, though, I find that I can only just barely defeat those bats -- that early on they have much more mobility than I myself do. I think previously you got the double jump spell fairly early on, which greatly helped avoid getting hit. Now that their damage is noticeable ( even with a 125% Toughness Character! ) it's even more imperative to dodge them, though I find it harder to do so than before. Other bosses, meanwhile, didn't present the same problems. I think it was only the bats, simply because they moved so quickly and could repeatedly hit you within the span of a few seconds.

I really enjoyed the fast-paced combat from before, being able to double jump rapidly as an example -- which also helped when you missed a platform and fell into acid. The only way I've been able to get out of an acid pit without dying is to put a platform down in the acid and jump onto it as it rose. In that split second your character "stuttered" and reset the jump cooldown and jumping again, hopefully high enough to escape the acid pit.  I'm not sure if that itself is a bug or if it was intentional, as a means to escape the situation?

A couple of answers:

1. Yeah, the shadow bats are vastly tougher now, by design -- as you said, they were too easy before.  They're meant to be a challenge for those who want to explore to them.  But they may require some tuning in terms of movement speed, not sure.

2. In terms of combat having slowed down, that is true to some extent, but there's also a lot more going on at once.  You don't have to time your jumps to avoid something being fired at you before it actually fires, but you do have to do a lot more dodging now.  A lot more like most shmups, in other words.

3. In terms of double jumping, you can get that ability, you just aren't given it from the start anymore.  In terms of the wood platforms not working right with you stepping on them underwater while they are rising, that was a bug that is fixed in the upcoming version.

Doors you have been in are green.  Doors you have not been in are red.  Doors that are destroyed don't show up at all.  The other colored dots represent various goodies out there, like things you can break to get commodities, or things you can pick up for various rewards.

Oh sorry no, I didn't mean the door on the maps, I figured that out I mean in game, some doors are brown and some are gray (so in game screen not the map)

I thought gray was the door you come from, that theory worked well for me until I came in a building where it was totally different :/
I thought gray doors always lead you towards the exit of the building (which was a nice concept if you wan to find your way quickly out or where you come from without looking at the map) and I thought that he same system should be implemented in dungeons with markings above the door like a glyph or Smth like that.

But gray doors really intrigues me :/

The color of the doors doesn't mean anything inherently.  There is an "inward door" and an "outward door" on each kind of building, but the colors aren't really the factor with them.  With many of them it's "door with a window" leads outward, and "door with no window" leads inward.  It's mostly an aesthetic thing that also provides a bit of a visual clue.  "Outward" means down in the dungeon map graph.

Oohh what do you mean by window ? Is it the green logo on the door ? I never paid too much attention to windows or not... I'll take a look more carefully ! Thanks a lot :)

I could have sworn the gray door meant Smth though ... Lol
