Actually, I don't appear to have one either!

I posted this in another thread, but it is relevant here too.

Hmm, are you running Windows Vista or Windows 7?
Those file may be in your Virtual store, which is a way that Windows can "fudge" write access to folders to application that expect it but don't have it.
To the program, the real folder and the "virtual store" folder are merged and look like one big folder. But they are two separate places on the actual file system. This way, the real folder can have restrictive permissions, but application that expect write access to that folder will instead have their write requests "redirected" to the virtual store folder, which they will have write access to.
IMO, it is a very awkward hack.
I believe we have had reports of some installations of AI War, especially done through a "psuedo-installer" like Steam, installing many of the files under the virtual store instead of the actual install directory. I would suspect that some people would encounter similar situations for AVWW.

For most people virtual store can be found at C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Local\VirtualStore
You may want to try to see if you can find your missing files there.

Amusingly, there is little to no official Microsoft documentation about this feature. There are ways to avoid it if you are willing to dig into NTFS permissions.

Nothing relevant in the VirtualStore folder either. At least on my box.

I'm going to start a new game in a new world. I just dumped 400 upgrade stones into one hero (because I was tired of dying all the time) and then visited an Ice Age Plains. The very first house I enter, I find I am right next to a secret stash. So I walk into that doorway only to be greeted by two robots who bounce me between them until I die. I couldn't move, the room was too low for me to double-jump away, and there were no spells I had which could knock them back. I even tried to throw crates, but that only prolonged my death since it glitched me into a crate and I just hovered in air until the crate was destroyed and the bouncing process started all over again. I'm not going to go back to 100 health trying to scavenge for upgrade stones in Tier 2.

As for the button click, it's to the point I completely turned off the sound again and this time It's staying off. I cannot stand it any longer, so until I can locate that sound file and replace it with something else, I am forced to play with no sound.

Lastly, I found another bug, although I'm not sure if it's been reported (I don't get the whole Mantis report thing). Anyways, if you are running from Urban Crawlers and enter a house to flee, then exit the house, you will be glitched inside the crawler - unable to move or jump free. The only way to free yourself is to kill the crawler which results in you getting stuck in the middle of the fireball. Which, if you have my luck, you will just have used your remaining few stones to upgrade a brand new character after losing your main buffed hero, only to find yourself stuck in the middle of a crawler getting shot from two espers and being left with 12 hp when the crawler finally blows up - resulting in yet another death.

I've had that exact same thing before with the robots.

The trick is to make use of the invincibility you get when you first enter a room;  so long as you DO NOT MOVE or use any spells or items, you will be invincible.  It's there to prevent you from entering a room, and getting immediately into an impossible situation (or a cheap situation) due to enemy placement.   If you enter a room, are invincible, and see that robots or whatever are in bad position, simply hit the button to go back in the door.

I've had the crawler thing happen as well; I believe I fixed it by exiting and reloading.

It's something to put on Mantis though if it isnt there already.

Also, as soon as you can;  buy at least one elusion scroll from the Opal Ilari stone.   4,000 shards, they cost, and they can COMPLETELY save your character from ANY situation.  Activate one and you are instantly transported to the world map, from wherever you happen to be.

Hope this helps!

Yes, always wait and watch when entering a new room if you think you could potentially get stuck. Break your invulnerability at your own risk.

As for exiting into an urban crawler, it happens sometimes, it's already logged on the bug reporter, they just haven't figured out what they want to do to prevent getting stuck inside enemies yet. They have some correction stuff going on, which will attempt to warp you to a valid location, but they haven't gone too crazy with it yet because it's not a super common occurrence, and often results in even more bugs to warp the player around willy nilly. At least, that is my understanding. Better to figure out how to solve the root problem (which is... that enemies can be outside a door? that you can spawn in it? I'm not even sure) than add in compensation for it.

Hmm, can you try searching the whole machine for buttonclick.ogg? Make sure to search case insensitive, in hidden and system folders, and include even non-indexed locations. If that file is in the system, this will find it. :P

For the skelebot thing, yea I remember my first skelebot trapped death. Annoying, but I didn't feel cheated, as I foolishly ran right into a nest of them, and thus I got what I deserved.
Still, this is a compelling reason to have a spell like splashback. Actually, how resistant are skelebots to knock-back right now? It seems a bit high, and even splash back barely pushes them.

The "door can put you inside an enemy" is a known bug.

Wait, you can buy illusion scrolls from Opal? Why didn't I realize that earlier? I've been searching all over the dang place for one.

Thanks for the scroll suggestion. I didn't know you could buy things from those giant crystals previously (probably another thing I missed because I couldn't stand the button sound long enough to delve into the Big Honkin Encyclopedia).

I also didn't know about the invulnerability upon entering a room. I shall take it a bit slower now with my new world.

Just check the "What's New?" thing on the title screen after any given patch.   Takes you right to the full patch notes (in a browser).    Makes sure you dont miss out on any additions to the game with any given patch.
