Functionality

Action games need special treatment when it comes to abilities, just take a quick look at Terraria or any other for examples

Using number keys for action bar is ok, except you would expect to select that ability-tile not specifically use it.. also mousewheel to scroll between spells
Common spells could have their own keys ie. Q, E, R, F (such as speed boost spell)

I also would consider platform-ish like mario world tiles, since it looks more ok from sideway look
right now the transition from over to underworld doesnt look too good

take for example sand-land.. the sand should have a top, and a bottom, that way it looks like you are standing on ground
right now it looks very plain, i guess

these are only ideas though! I'm very hopeful that you consider the actionbar changes, since right now its very slow for me
i want to be able to scroll to a spell and use it immediately
the part about common spells having permanent hotkeys is just an idea, i liked the hook in terraria having its own key since that gives mobility without having to change spell

great game so far.. =)

A few things actually have their own assignable hotkeys already, like platforms and boxes. The problem is the plethora of other functions already assigned to keys :P For instance, you mentioned Q: that one clears the target if you use tab-targetting. E enters building or otherwise activate stuff. I think R shifts the action rows, and I'm fairly sure F does something too.

there are already hotkeys in the options for setting spells like ball of light, snake, flash of light, the other light spell and shield.  i'm pretty sure you can set a hotkey directly to the speed boost, too.

You double tap a directional movement key and you use storm dash automatically.

I'm surprised at how many people don't know about this shortcut! You're not the only one. Maybe I will go through the tutorial again and see if it specifically mentions how to activate storm dash without using it like a normal spellgem.

thanks, it works except its very easy to both accidentally use it, and accidentally stop it :P

You can change how sensitive the double tap is by changing the "Double-Press Time" from the default of 200 in the option menu.

Technically, RtL kicks in if you try to jump while in the air and you're out of jumps.

Chris already discussed putting in a Terraria-like hotkey system. The thread should still be on the 1st or 2nd page of the forum.

now you just need to add critters to all levels... squirrels, birds and what not

really like this so far
i take back what i said about speed double-tap thing, it just takes some practice

Honestly, a Terraria-like system decreases your flexibility to do multiple things quickly.

The current setup might be a bit hotkey-heavy, but I'm never fiddling around to select the proper spell.
