Frozen Synapse: Red Release And New Valley Reviews/Videos

Our good friends at Mode 7 Games have released the Red expansion for their tactical heaven Frozen Synapse. They've added co-op, and a new campaign, and a new multiplayer mode, and...well, a ton of good stuff. It's absolutely jam-packed, and does more than just slap a fresh coat of (red) paint on one of the better indie games in recent memory.

Red's available now both through Mode 7 themselves and on Steam (both offering 15% off during the first week of release). The base game is also 50% off through launch week.

In Arcen news, GameSpy included AI War on their 10 Great Co-Op RTS Games for Comp-Stomp Fun list, while A Valley Without Wind reviews and video coverage are still trickling in as well:

I should point out, I'm Deihlanos, doing the LP of the game that currently has just the one episode.

Surprised anyone noticed the video.  Danged if I know how to get the bloody things noticed;  I usually just stick them in there and then.... well, that's it.  If they get watched, they get watched.

I'll have more up soon-ish..... I plan on keeping up that LP for some time, wether anyone watches or not..... but I'm lazy as heck and the videos take a kersquillion years to render, and I have no patience whatsoever.   Have parts 2 and 3 done, but..... ugh.  The thing has to sit there for like an hour to render them.  Usually I set it before bed and leave it.

Also, it's cool to see the game getting noticed like this;  there've been quite alot of reviews and such so far!   This being one of my favorite games, it's good to see stuff like that.   Hopefully you guys are doing as well on the actual sales numbers as I'm guessing you are.

And Frozen Synapse is pretty good, though it hates me with a passion.   I never was any good at that sort of game.  Mostly I just repeatedly die in the general direction of the enemy.

Blah, 10 bucks for the Frozen Synapse DLC? To add co-op? I feel like co-op is something that maybe should have been in the base game, and since I AND my friends will need to buy this DLC to play co-op, that could get costly rather quickly...

Well, it's not JUST co-op, there are a bunch of new missions and stuff too. That said, whether or not it should have had co-op in the first place is up for debate.

Oh, wait, never mind! I just read this statement by Mode7: "“All online features, including co-op, can be shared between expansion owners and non-owners, meaning that there is no division in the community.” So that makes it a lot more palatable.

I've played the crap out of this game, and I'm happy to give them more money.
