AVWW Post-Release 1.102 "Stop Wiggling!" Released!

This one is pretty much a bugfix and slight polish version.  If things look solid here, then we'll do a hotfix official version tomorrow -- so let us know if you see any problems or if everything looks okay!

Internally we've been mapping out what we're going to do for 1.2, and work on that has started in a separate branch from this bugfix/polish stuff.  We're excited to share our plans for that with you soon.

This is a standard update that you can download through the in-game updater itself, if you already have 0.500 or later. When you launch the game, you'll see the notice of the update having been found if you're connected to the Internet at the time.  If you don't have 0.500 or later, you can download that here.

Awesome, this pretty much fixed the few "pet peeve issues" that were still lingering in 1.101, including explosions from self-destructing, which I wasn't expecting a rebalance for until the next beta cycle starts up in full swing, but you managed to fit it in. :)

Can't wait to try it later tonight.

Minor thing, maybe intentional, but the "whats new" button from the main menu screen doesn't go to the new/current (AVWW - Post-Launch Series 2 Release Notes) update notes, it goes to the old (AVWW - Post-Launch Series 1 Release Notes) page.

I'm trying to work out why you would stop Douse Monster Nest from working in NPC rescue missions. Seems to me that the spell was pretty much /built/ for that kind of mission.

Playing at less then the highest difficulty most of the time, it seems unessassary or unhelpful in a lot of scenarios, yet that was the perfect place to use it.

What is the intended goal of that spell, if not for use to temporarily disable the spawners in missions where it's dangerous to stop to destroy them?

It already takes a lot of effort to make douse usable since you have to tech it up so much. Should it really be restricted in usage too?

Douse was previously ridiculously exploitable.  In terms of having to tech it up a lot... that's something that will change as part of our big 1.2 plans.

I just got the run-down for these plans yesterday. I'm excited about them too. Chris and Keith have come up with some really neat ideas to help counter some of the biggest complaints about the game. I can't say too much yet, because I don't want to have to walk back on anything I say if they don't work out quite as planned, but, I think the game is about to get a lot more fun.
