Right mouse button broken on world regions?
« on: April 24, 2012, 06:38:36 am »
Hello,
I read in a few places that you can use the right mouse button over a region on the world map to display info about that region, however when I try this nothing happens.
Every other key, button, and instance of right mouse usage seems fine.  Anyone know what is wrong here?

Yep, functionality was removed for that feature (afaik) to give you more reason to wander around the map.  It's quite quick so no harm really done.

If you can still locate something that says you can rt-click the map, let the devs know or drop a post in mantis (their online bugtracker) and they'll fix it up.
... and then we'll have cake.

Ah thanks, that makes sense.

Nothing in the game mentions it I don't think, just the wiki.

Welcome to the forums :)  It appears your question has already been assassinated by a community ninja ;)

Anyway, yea, all the info that would have showed up on right-click is now in that bottom-left window that always shows on the world map.  In case you didn't know, you can mouse-hover over some of the stuff in there (particularly mission rewards, etc) for more info :)

If you have any information on specific places that note the right-mouse-click we'd definitely like to know where those are so that we can fix those, by the way.  Thanks!

Thanks for the welcome! :) My confusion was due to two places in the Wiki that mention clicking on the World Map to get info:

In the "But What Do I Do Next?" section "Right-click on a region -- this will tell you about the type of region":
http://www.arcengames.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=AVWW_-_I_Completed_The_Intro_Mission..._But_What_Do_I_Do_Next%3F

In the "What Are All These Maps For?" section where it talks about the World Map "For example, clicking on one of the mission squares on the above map might bring up a box similar to the one below":
http://www.arcengames.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=AVWW_-_What_are_all_these_maps_for%3F

I was going to fix the one in the If You're Feeling Lost section (found here) of the wiki and then realized it's meant to be a direct transcription of the first tutorial box you get when you enter the world map.  Since I don't have that immediately available I'll just drop what I'd thought of including here for the primary authors in case they want to include it somehow after getting the tutorial box information and transplanting the line:

Code: [Select]
* Move your character around the map - don't worry, you're safe unless you enter an area ('''E''') - and this will tell you about the type of region (Grasslands, Ice Age Woods, etc.) and also give you more information about missions, Overlord Lairs, and other special areas in the left hand corner.  Eventually you'll learn to see what all the symbols and grid types mean by sight but it's worth taking a few minutes checking things out.  Hover your mouse over the different items in the description box and you'll get more information.

I fixed the incorrect statement on the map explanations here
... and then we'll have cake.
