I think microbosses would fit these missions much better.

They wouldn't be as problematic in the tight spaces and they're far less likely to completely block some tunnels (giant skelebots are especially prone to this).

Misery... do you truly find avoiding bosses that difficult?

I think I've killed 2 bosses (because they were directly in my way) in 10 or so windshelter missions.  In most cases... platform platform JUMP and... POOF, I'm outta here.

Wind shelters are more like a stealth kill mission, with no kill at the end.  The entire point is to move past everything.  Grab a high-HP char and just blow past 'em. :)

Normally?  No.

It's USUALLY those bloody shadow bats that get me;  the slightest mistake (like getting stuck on a small wall), or whatever and they're just on top of me, and it's just over.

The blue amoeba is usually the other boss that I find in these, and there HAVE been times (plenty of times) where it's huge bulk obscures most of a passageway, and of course it sprays projectiles everywhere, AND there's usually alot of espers floating around.

I'll be trying some other tactics with these, but still, my thoughts are that it just isnt very balanced right now.

Though, a minor complaint, being that the game is so grand otherwise  :D

Ugh, wind shelters. They were the bane of my existence.

I tried setting up wind shelters at tier 1, because, you know, the game is called A Valley Without Wind and I thought that would ultimately be the goal, to push back the wind. To say that trying to fight the bosses was futile would be an understatement. I then tried running through and died very quickly. And again, just to make sure.

So I figured that facing Tier 4 (or was it Tier 3? I forget) monsters at Tier 1 was not a good idea, and maybe I'd have more luck on later tiers.

Tried again around Tier 3 or 4. Didn't fail as bad this time, but even after several attempts, no luck. Got hit by four of those flying green mini bosses that shoot spores which I haven't seen before. If not for my scroll of elusion, I wouldn't have made it out.

By Tier 5 I figured out that inside and underground areas aren't affected by the wind storms. At this point I could run through stormy areas without too much trouble, so by the time I was strong enough to build a shelter I was also strong enough to not need one.

All right, for now:

* The wind shelter missions no longer include a miniboss in each of their outdoor chunks.  Instead each chunk includes three microbosses, which tend to be far easier to avoid.
