[RESOLVED] Crash - Black Screen

Hi,

I had AVWW version 0.902 or so I believe, it's been a while since I updated really, and today, seeing that the game comes neer to 1.0 I just did the update, the game found one update and after the short (which was weird to me) update, the game only show a black screen, you can see the menu and hear the music but everything else is black.

Also, after uninstalling and re-installing (coming back to version .5) and doing the one update the game find find, the same happens

Any help ?

The problem seems to be in the update somehow. If you uninstall again, then install version 1.0 directly, it should be fine. You can get the 1.0 version here: http://www.arcengames.com/w/index.php/avww-downloads .

I've now fixed the updates for people who are upgrading from prior versions so that this should not happen again.  I set something wrong in the file, and it caused it to skip the intermediate updates; which meant that the 1.0 that you arrived at was missing key files and thus unable to run.  Normally our updates are supposed to download all the intermediate ones and then apply them all as one rollup, but it was just skipping right to the end because of how 1.0 was flagged in the update xml file.  Whoops! 

That's now resolved, but if you've updated to 1.0 via the updater prior to this from any version other than 0.971 (Release Candidate 2), then you're definitely going to want to do a fresh install from the 1.0 build here: http://www.arcengames.com/w/index.php/avww-downloads  You can just install that right over your existing copy of the game and it won't harm your savegames or settings files, and will get you all ship-shape.
