Crate Jumping
« on: April 29, 2012, 05:17:11 pm »
I thought I would share a neat trick I found (also a potential bug if it isn't intended).

If you place a crate directly beneath you whilst in mid-air and immediately jump, then you can jump off the crate, using it as a boost. It is a very quick and easy method of scaling tall cliffs in outside areas when you can't place down platforms.
I've even taken to using the trick for getting around in internal chunks. Partly because its not any slower than using platforms (i have place crate set as the 'C' key) and mostly because its such a ridiculous mode of vertical transportation!

You should all give it a go!

Interesting. Definitely something to try to refresh my triple jump mid-air.

I use teleportation. launch the tele sphere up then when you tele launch it up again. Of course I guess you could always combine this with crate jumping

Used to work with platforms, but no longer: you can't jump off a platform mid-growth. Crate jumping is awesome though.... except for the crate detritus you leave behind at the scene of the crime.

It wasn't originally intended, but since doing it well requires a degree of skill, we kept it in there. :)

Yea, this was found midway through the beta process, as tigersfan mentioned, this required sufficient enough skill and was sufficiently hilarious that it was kept.
