continent 2 standstill

ok i got to continent 2 last night [6/18/12 was the date] and when i found the settlement there were 3 girls....np guy surrounded by chicks nice! anyhow the problem is 1s apothikary 1s a forger and 1s a stonemaker.... and i cannot build anything in the settlement cuz i need a dumb lumber person... and i cannot find any secret missions to rescue any1. i took out 2 Lts already but i cannot build any windmills and I'm stuck on this forsaken continent... any ideas on how to progress? i got all these scrolls but i cannot use them grrrrrrr.

Where are you looking for secret missions? Are you aware that the secret missions do show up on the mini-map?

yes i am aware.... I've checked every sqare inch of continent 2 looking for those yellow spots [secret mission areas] on my mini map but all i seem to find are boss tower secret missions

Try checking underground. I believe secret rescue missions have a higher chance of spawning down there.

You can also find rescue missions inside buildings. Adbandoned town buildings are good places to look, as well as Ice Age buildings too I think. Probably other medium-to-large buildings can spawn secret missions.
I can already tell this is going to be a roller coaster ride of disappointment.

  • Same for "large inn" interiors.
  • For "office building" interiors it's moved from 1% to 8%.
  • Really large or evil buildings (not overlord/lieutenant ones) previously had a 2% chance times the number of floors in the building. Now it's 6% times the number of floors.
  • Just for the record, each underground cave system retains the same 30% chance of NPC rescue mission nodes that they already had. But a lot of people were looking in buildings instead of underground and coming up empty after even 5+ hours of searching in some reported cases.
    Thanks to Professor Paul1290, DonLyn, and Toll for reporting their difficulties.
So the underground caves have the highest chance of spawning an NPC rescue mission.

It occurs to me that this sort of thing might be good to explain in the tutorial.

Setting up buildings in the settlement, as well as gathering survivors (and how/where to go about doing that) is one of the things the game doesnt seem to explain very well.   Which is odd, since it's darn specific about where exactly to find pretty much anything else.   And survivors/buildings are pretty important from continent 2 - onward.

I really dont remember this being explained well, if at all.   Certainly, a note about them being easier to locate in caves would be nice; particularly since cave exploration is a good idea at that point anyway, as you can get extra shards from enemies and the frequent boss rooms, as well as start collecting granite and other stuff.


I also dont recall much explanation as to just how all of the professions work.

You know, now that I think about it, we are really lacking information on where to find rescue NPC missions. I only knew about them being more common in caves because I was around for most of the beta and religiously read the changelogs. Sort of like how I know that clay pots spawn more often in the ice age even though it's not in the encyclopedia.
