Yea, the bronze-age face is hideous, but I figured I'd not say anything since I didn't think it would go in the game that way ;)

And fwiw, whenever I see makeup like that in real-life (well, mostly on history tv or that kind of thing, people don't really do that anymore, at least where I live), it looks hideous there too.

I don't find it attactive, but I think it certainly looks Egyptian. Fine by me.
I can already tell this is going to be a roller coaster ride of disappointment.

As a loose piece of concept art it's fine. Better than fine even.

Once again I think people are judging some of this as though it's the final iteration.

I guess I must be the only one here who thinks that Egyptian portrait picture is good enough to be in the game right now, as-is!

:)  I like the art too, a lot! What I don't understand is people... Internet is full of complainers. Its enough to want to turn off the pc and leave the silly thing off. Either that or stop reading forums.  :)

I was checking out the Heavy Cat site that you mention as the studio you have working on the new art, and wanted to comment on what I think they may be bringing to the new productions that I think could be very exciting.

Heavy Cat looks to be a very professional and accomplished group, and could prove to be a turning point for Arcen, in the kinds of games that you may choose to branch out and try. With a studio that does all the things Heavy Cat is doing with static art and with animation as well as the voice acting and comics I think it provides several resources that Arcen may have been pressed to fill internally in the first few years.

Most game companies that I am aware of spend several years just getting their audience figured out before they start to branch out and try new things, new kinds of projects that stretch what they are used to doing. It is good to see Arcen trying this so early and I hope it pays off both for Arcen and for Heavy Cat.

Out of the dozen or more projects listed on the Heavy Cat site that I saw, there were several that look really well put together in their animation and voice work. I especially liked  Strike Fleet Athena. And The Warrior of the Sunrise Transformation animation looked just perfect.

They were almost like episodes of anime that you might catch on tv or online.

The audio work on Strike Fleet Athena and the audio demo for LadyStar Battlefield episode 1  are very professionally done. The audio work on LadyStar was very cute as well.

I have two young boys who are into Anime and Ninja's and have been watching Oh My Goddess! and Tenchi Muyo lately and this sounds like an episode of one of those.  I think it bodes well for Arcen to branch out with another studio and I think Heavy Cat is a perfect fit.

I am really excited to see how A Valley Without Wind  and the new Shattered Horizon are going to look and play. I really think this is an exciting change and think these two games are really going to be different than what you have done so far. I hope it make a huge impact and hope it helps Arcen try a new direction.

Sorry for the super long post, but thanks for listening.
