Awesome Game - But the part I love most about it is...
« on: October 18, 2011, 04:10:53 pm »
...the music! It's very eight-bit NES sounding but has a very ''feel good'' quality to it. I haven't liked a sound track to a game this much since Rygar for the NES.

I purchased my copy from GamersGate and I'm glad that the developers are allowing it to be played during its Beta process instead of just keeping pre-orders under wraps until official launch.

Yeah!

My favourite tunes would have to be the bronze age music. (it's sort of egyptian) Also there's a tune that plays in the underground that's really great too. Catchy.

I just fought my first lieutenant, and I must say that the Evil Outpost theme is incredibly good. I definately liked it! Howerver, the "fighting a lieutenant" theme seemed a bit low on volume compared to other music. I could barely hear it without cranking my speakers up a lot, and even then it was drowned out by game sounds.

I'm loving the new settlement track too. Sort of reminds me of the Snowman tune from Mother. (except more mellow)

Maybe it's just me.

The ambient track for the settlement is excellent. I'd happily listen to more in the same vein.

I think my personal favourite is the desert theme.  8-bit harmonies make me smile every time.  Respect to you, Pablo!

Thank you guys! I've had such a great time working on this soundtrack. Look for LOTS more music to come with the full release of the game. We're probably at around 40% when it comes to music, so there'll be plenty more!

That's good to hear. I personally prefer the relaxing ambient tunes as I feel they fit the game well with more high tempo stuff reserved for boss fights.

music is great. I'm fond of the "urbanmix" tunes myself. I'm curious.. what you use to produce the music with pablo?
I'm an indie musician who likes indie games. Seems rather fitting doesn't it?

I use Logic Studio for the original sounds and mixes, and then I do the editing on ProTools 9.

The first few times I played, I didn't bother to turn on my speakers or put on headphones, but when I finally got around to it, I just sat at the title screen for a while. It's so deliciously retro.

I'm completely sold on the OverlordLair2.ogg tune. God I live it so much it hurts.

You guys don't pay the musicians enough ;)

But seriously, I have had no need to turn off the music yet. I sometimes even forget to pause because it stops music. Loving it.
