AVWW Post-Release 1.201-1.203 Entropic Leap
« on: July 19, 2012, 12:21:34 pm »
(Crossposted from this blog post)

This one is our first post-1.2 beta update and it's largely responding to bug reports and feature suggestions from the past several days.  Many thanks for the feedback!

But Chris also added a new monster (the Entropic Esper) and two new spells (Leaping Death and Flower X).  The game should probably drop a lot of anvils on you if you rely too heavily on flower-power, but I'm not sure that was implemented.

Update: 1.202 is out now as well, and it fixes a fairly critical bug in 1.201 where interior generation would just kind of call it a day halfway through and not seed unimportant things like some doors, secret mission entrances, npcs into rescue-npc missions, etc.

Update: 1.203 hotfix is out too, and it fixes a bug that can cause doors/vents/holes to not seed in destroyed rooms in some cases.

Enjoy!

This is a standard update that you can download through the  in-game updater itself, if you already have 0.500 or later. When you  launch the game, you'll see the notice of the update having been found  if you're connected to the Internet at the time.  If you don't have 0.500 or later, you can download that here.

After downloading this I started a new world. All difficulties were default except for platforming which was on hardest. I went and did a Freefall - Building mission, but while I was in there were no obstacles at all. about 400 from the bottom I saw the cache pass me by but I couldn't find anything to land on to try and go get it. Once I got to the bottom I couldn't go back up at all (couldn't jump high enough).

I don't know if this is a thing that isn't actually an issue, but I've never seen it before so I figured I'd post it.

PS: I joined the forum just to post this. If there's somewhere else I should put it or if I should send it as a message, just let me know.

Thanks for the report. The best place to but stuff like this is in Mantis, which you can find here: http://www.arcengames.com/mantisbt/main_page.php .

Had a brief play and overmap building rewards definitely help - I'm now actually doing some overmap missions since they have worthwhile rewards again.

The Entropic Esper didn't seem that bad until I took contact damage; it's kind of like a tiny floaty entropic buzzsaw. I wouldn't mind seeing the shots getting a reverse knockback to shove you towards it to play that aspect up, to be honest.

I haven't quite figured out what to do with the new spells yet; Flower X will probably be relegated to never getting used (I don't tend to melee), but Leaping Death currently feels like an entropic forest rage, so it might find a use somewhere for exploiting entropy vulnerabilities.

All round, a good update with plenty to fiddle with.

I do have one question, though; do wind shelters / ocean buoys count as "basic" buildings and therefore have a chance to show up in overmap mission rewards? (If so, it's just the RNG being unhelpful. Again.)

They don't.  But arguably, they should.

I just updated to new version 1.201, and the very first thing a friend and I notice is that destroyed rooms do not have any doors which to leave the room, which means the only ways to get out are by using Elusion Scroll or to Abandon Character. Also the Secret Mission rooms are missing the entrances to secret missions.
Check out my server info page http://www.xion-games.com/ I have a AVWW server, too!

Yikes, that's yet another symptom of this:

* Fixed a rather critical bug in the prior version that was causing all sorts of things not to seed indoors: enchant containers, NPCs in rescue missions, spikes in freefall missions, etc.

That fix will be out shortly as 1.202.  Thanks for bearing with us with that!

I juust updated to 1.202, created a new world, entered the destroyed room... and the only thing that changed is that instead of a trash can, I got a table inside it.  Not a door. (OSX).

Can you try some destroyed rooms that no one has been inside yet?  The previously generated one may be messed up from earlier.  Or was this one that no one had been in?  Thanks :)

In my interior generator tool, I'm seeing doors seeding in the tilesets.  So I can't see any reason why those wouldn't then be appearing in-game...

Can you zip up the world folder and attach it to a post here?  That way it will be easier for us to reproduce the problem and fix it.  Thanks :)
