AVWW Post-Release 1.060 "Release Candidate 7" Released!
« on: June 13, 2012, 12:05:10 pm »
Original: http://arcengames.blogspot.com/2012/06/avww-post-release-1060-release.html

This one is the second release candidate of the day.  There are still a couple of very teeny things we want to fix up this morning, but aside from that this is going to be the 1.1 version unless someone finds a problem.  So if there's a problem, we definitely want to know about it!

In the prior two RC versions there was a severe stuttering issue -- if anyone who was seeing that can confirm that issue in particular is fixed, we'd greatly appreciate it!

More to come soon.  Enjoy!

This is a standard update that you can download through the in-game updater itself, if you already have 0.500 or later. When you launch the game, you'll see the notice of the update having been found if you're connected to the Internet at the time.  If you don't have 0.500 or later, you can download that here.

I'm really excited about the impending release! I can't wait to get people to try the game in its post-1.1 glory. :)

Me too!  Now if we can just confirm that the stuttering bug is gone, then I think we're good to go.  I'm going to give that until tomorrow, since I'd hate for that to be anyone's first impression if it does rear its head.

Nothing that serious it seems but...
I created a new world with an advanced start and got an error message and was dropped in an empty chunk before the settlement. Normal start seems to work without problems.
Attaching the error log and the compressed world folder.

I haven't played the game for a while but the coming release seems great, looking toward to it :)

Hmmm, odd, yeah, that's a problem, thanks.

Hmmm does it still take forever for a server to detect when you've left it?
Normally you have to wait a long time (like 3-5 minutes) to get back in unless the person unadvertises' it.

If you leave via Quit it should be picking up on it immediately.  If you leave by just closing the program or otherwise without doing the normal disconnection logic it intentionally waits a few minutes before giving up on the connection.

Quote from: 1.061 Release Notes
Vastly improved the performance of the logic that computes whether a region is connected via land or non-turbulent water to a settlement or non-stormy port.

Ah, don't you just love trying to implement graph algorithms. ;)

Actually, yes -- I love it.  This particular one was implemented by Keith with one scope, however, and then it was used in a context that needed a completely different scope.  So we just altered the scope to follow a pattern that we use elsewhere in this program and AI War for graph algorithms, and that was that. :)
