AVWW Post-Release 1.049 "Yet More Polish" Released!
« on: June 04, 2012, 09:09:17 pm »
Original: http://arcengames.blogspot.com/2012/06/avww-post-release-1049-yet-more-polish.html

This one has a ton more polish, including addressing the anachronism missions bug as well as a variety of seeding bugs.  Not sure if we'll go live with the official 1.1 tomorrow or not, because of the scope of these changes.

If you see any issues with the new version, or play a bunch with it and see no issues, we'd love to hear of either case to help us decide what to do about 1.1.  As always, we appreciate the feedback!

More to come soon.  Enjoy!

This is a standard update that you can download through the in-game updater itself, if you already have 0.500 or later. When you launch the game, you'll see the notice of the update having been found if you're connected to the Internet at the time.  If you don't have 0.500 or later, you can download that here.

So far things look good.  However I'm having a small problem in my continent one settlement.    At the end, there is a small ramp, and the npc's get stuck on it, and it looks like they are turning around rapidly.   Maybe I also found the odd solution to this while trying to document it, but if I hit the Print Screen button on my keyboard a few times, they eventually get unstuck until they run back there again.

Looking good, except that summoned rhinos seem to be broken

Also, any chance at looking at 7461: When a direct spell keybind is set to a mouse button, it still triggers in menus, or is that too much of a "edge case" of a control mapping to really be a big deal?

Looks like there are a few things for us to take a look at in the morning, including the loot goals being a bit wonky: http://www.arcengames.com/mantisbt/view.php?id=8420

Regarding 7461, that's pretty well an edge case for the moment at least; I'm not sure how Keith wants to handle that one, as the input contexts have been basically his thing.

I did notice something wierd immediately after loading; had an NPC standing near the entrance to the settlement, who was both running in place, and spinning in place, while being half transparent.  I went to take a screenshot, the moment I hit the key, he stopped doing this.

Dunno what the heck that was about.

On the note of other changes, Wisps now seem so easy that they may as well not exist.  They cant damage you unless you've fallen asleep at the keyboard, since they have no attack and it takes all of a second to kill them.   didn't think they were that hard to start with, since they rarely ever fired the attack they DID have.  The only way they might be even a remote issue now is in JtP missions, but even then, in those they'd die even faster.

Come to think of it, the swamp areas are a bit too easy to start with (even before wisp change);  the only real threat seems to be the constant presence of the stinging nettles, but even then those do very little damage (sure are annoying though).   Which is too bad, they're a pretty neat area, with the way they generate, but they're currently pretty boring.   It seems enemies dont spawn there in high numbers ever?  Usually I just see one esper floating around by itself every now and then, with random wisps off by themselves somewhere.  Currently the easiest area type to run through without having to fight anything, aside from occaisionally stopping to hurl a bolt or two at the wisps.

....as opposed to the Evergreen Forests, which are this screaming nightmare of eagles and crazy fiery things and pain everywhere.   That area seems much nastier than even the Deep or the Lava Flats right now.  Not entirely a complaint, mind you;  they sure are exciting, if nothing else (particularly when the game decides to then put Stinging Nettles on literally every possible part of every surface).   I just thought I'd mention it since the difficulty level of these areas seems REALLY far ahead of any other region type.
