Original: http://arcengames.blogspot.com/2012/05/avww-post-release-1039-pre-official.html

This one is our first solely-polish release prior to the next official version, which will be coming out late this week and dubbed 1.1.  Lots and lots of balance tweaks and bugfixes in here, and more to come later tonight.

Enjoy!

This is a standard update that you can download through the in-game updater itself, if you already have 0.500 or later. When you launch the game, you'll see the notice of the update having been found if you're connected to the Internet at the time.  If you don't have 0.500 or later, you can download that here.

I take this to mean that we are now in a feature freeze?

Anyways, awesome work, including cleaning up some really annoying stuff (like the not healing when <1 HP from full bug).

Incidentally, did you figure out what was causing that save deserialization issue that a few people were running into?

Yep, exactly.

Thanks!  And no, we haven't found the save deserialization thing yet because nobody had a world for us to test with until about 45 minutes ago.  But it's way up there on our list of things to look at priority-wise now that we actually can.

With this patch I notice health orbs tend to orbit me even when I'm at full health. It's not so much of a problem, and it's actually rather useful... the instant I'm damaged the orbs restore my health, rather than me having to wait for them to fly over. Not to mention it looks pretty cool. :P

This "Adventurer" profession thing is surprising, I didn't expect that.   Wont this make it harder to use the glyph-switch scrolls in any practical way?   Or maybe not?   Interesting nonetheless.

Also thanks for making the Stinging Nettles easier to see;  constantly getting stabbed in the foot by mysterious invisible plants in some areas got really annoying really fast.

Yeah, that's fixed in the next one. :)

Well -- sort of.  What it allows is more of a risk/reward, I think.  If you find a character who is both a great fighter as well as a lumbermancer that matches the buildings you have been able to find... do you leave them as a lumbermancer or make them an adventurer?  Etc.  Versus with other characters that just have good stats but are otherwise redundant in terms of profession, they can be more warrior-like.  Eventually I want to have the Adventurer types come out exploring with you in some sort of mission; could be interesting, and this basically lays long-term groundwork for that.

You bet!
