Well, looking at the stats and the range for it, with a high-mana character Leafy Whip was actually far superior to Miasma Whip.  It just depends on the character build; now LW is the exclusive domain of high-mana characters, and is pretty devastating against groups of foes in particular.

My mate said that the flamethrower is better than Leafy whip already, with high mana d00ds, dunno how truthful he was though. I'll look later after watching Pirates: at worlds end.

Off topic I know, but do you know how many memes these two sentences alone could feasibly invoke?

Flamethrower's a lot shorter-ranged, but potentially that's true.  I'm not saying Leafy Whip is perfectly balanced (quite open to suggestions there), but you asked for the rationale and that was it. :)

Personally, I don't feel the range of a melee weapon is that important in a game with long ranged projectiles, since you still have to be right next to whatever you're trying to hit. I'd rather have leafy whip be a weapon that can 1 hit most trash mobs, but has extreme mana use. Kinda like what Creeping death is supposed to be but Isn't because it sucks.

freeformschooler: can you upload a copy of your world folder?

Hi, I'm just now getting around to this. Here you go:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/53153056/Environ2.zip

It should be noted that this is happening with all of my worlds, not just this one (though this is the one I care about).

Oh hey... is "Luminance Arc" some sort of reference to the game Luminous Arc? Somehow I doubt you're referencing an obscure Japanese SRPG, but it's just a striking coincidence.

Actually, not a reference -- not aware of that game! :)

Many thanks :)  In for 1.042:

Quote
* Fixed another old-worlds-deserialization bug arising from the combination of an old minor optimization (that wouldn't write out an ongoing condition's duration to disk or the network if it wasn't the sort of condition that _has_ a duration) and some old ongoing-condition types that haven't been used in a while (and didn't have a duration) being repurposed for the recently added element-vulnerability-causing abilities (which do have a duration).
** Thanks to freeformschooler for the report and save.

Your world now loads fine for me, so it should load fine for you in 1.042.
