Playing through AVWW and analyzing some of the aspects and NPC lines has brought up some questions about the game's backstory and the mechanics of certain elements within the universe. I don't know if any of these questions are answered by the mysteries (I'm continent 2 and only have one mystery unlocked), or if they're answered at all, but any information or speculation is welcome.
1) Magic and technology. From the way I understand the timeline, the world started with the garden of life (dinosaurs, volcanic landscape, draconites), moved on to the bronze age, medieval era, and time of magic, was followed by the pre-industrial and modern eras, followed by the ice age, and then the time of machines where humans are extinct. From what NPCs have said, magic seemed prominent in the first three eras, and by the ice age they've accomplished some sort of beneficial synergy with technology. During the Pre-industrial and modern eras, was magic not in use? Are spells strictly magic and enchants something along the lines of cybernetic enchantments, or are they both a combination or magic and tech? Or does each PC use whatever what was available during their era? More importantly, I suppose, is the question of whether the distinction between tech and magic is relevant?
2)Guardian Stones. I'm almost certain I read some details about guardian stones in game, but I've forgotten them since. Have they always existed alongside humanity, only during the ice age, or only after the shatter? Are they concerned and affected by the shatter, or are they simply bystanders? Do they orchestrate the player's actions and drive them toward the goal, or do they simply provide the glyph and settlement necessary?
