Original: http://arcengames.blogspot.com/2012/05/avww-post-release-1011-dread-mechanical.html

This one is focused on everybody's biggest complaint with the game these days: enemy variety.  Four new enemies have been added, and two new minibosses have been added.  There were already something like 40-50 enemies in the game, but given that many of them were unlockables or limited to just specific region types, that made them feel thinner on the ground than they really were.

In particular espers were annoyingly ubiquitous.  Well, espers are no longer native to the grasslands, since those now have enough other monsters to take their place now.  Espers will also be withdrawing from various other time periods as more monsters are introduced.

In general, adding more monsters will be our major focus for most of this week unless something else comes up, and then after that the focus is probably going to be on more exploration rewards plus more mission types.  That's the current plan, anyhow!

Check out the release notes if you want the goods on the new monsters, or just wait and experience them in-game if you want to avoid spoilers.  There's also a number of notable bugfixes, including that "stuck in urban crawler" one and a fix to an exploit that made shields ridiculously overpowered in journey to perfection missions.

More to come soon.  Enjoy!

UPDATE: 1.012 fixes a bug that was causing exceptions to be thrown in some worlds when missions were completed in the prior version.  Sorry about that!

This is a standard update that you can download through the in-game updater itself, if you already have 0.500 or later. When you launch the game, you'll see the notice of the update having been found if you're connected to the Internet at the time.  If you don't have 0.500 or later, you can download that here.

No! I refuse! It's 4am, so it's bed-time!  >:(

-runs off before the Beta takes over his PC and downloads by itself-

Edit: Are Urban Mechs (The big ones) meant to spawn in the towns while not in boss rooms? Cause I had 3 on the same chunk and thought Miniboss was for boss rooms only.

If not, thyey are still pretty cool in the open.

Dread gazebo makes me think of a Mad Hatter tea party with a rabid rabid and a sleepy mouse.

Will have to give this a go after finals are done (1 left).

The big urban mechs are meant to be minibosses. Looks like that flag didn't get set. Sorry!

Thank you.  I've died at least a dozen times to that bug.

EDIT: Not to be a bummer...but so far I can't complete any Stealth Assassination missions.  When I kill the boss, I get this message:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/g9ybniyw8ueh0u5/whoops.png

After I kill the boss and get that error, the mission appears to be stuck on the world map, too.  The expiration time is frozen and it shows no reward.

I had to do the good, 'ol Printscreen because, for some reason the Steam screenshot feature isn't working now either.  Dunno if that's related, but I know it was working yesterday...

I've just had the same bug happen on a meteor mission.   Exact same thing;  finish mission, crazy blob of error messages, mission still "active" but with nothing happening since it's over.  Leaving still counts as "abandoning".

EDIT:  Actually, cant complete ANY missions.  They all give that same blob of errors.  (edit: Wind Shelters are beatable.   It seems like it's only affecting the "official" missions, AKA the ones that give CP and appear on the world map naturally?  Havent tried a secret mission yet)

EDIT AGAIN:  Looks like someone already set up a Mantis thing for this bug:   http://www.arcengames.com/mantisbt/view.php?id=7661

MORE EDIT:  On the plus side, these new baddies are pretty darn neat.   They have some very interesting attack patterns and such.

.....and those gazebos are just evil!  Got completely wrecked by them!  Those things are gonna need some very different tactics to take down.   Definitely would like to see more "background" enemies like this;  it gives spells like Death Touch and Ice Burst much more use and is a very different type of fight from normal enemies.   Very cool overall.    Also an incredibly strange idea for an enemy, hah.

I got thrashed by the miniboss mechs spawning like crazy in the Abandoned Town.  Holy crap.  One of them is annoying enough, but when you have 2, the screen is pretty much full of bullets.

You have to watch out for those gazebos, man.

Mana-Cost-Reduction effects from enchants (and guardian power buffs) now affect mana regen instead (so if you had a -20% mana cost enchant, it's now +20% mana regen)

My poor, poor 40-mana character :(

Did this get fixed in 1.012? I'm still seeing a LOT of big mechs on abandoned town maps.
