Original: http://arcengames.blogspot.com/2012/05/avww-post-release-1007-now-where-did-i.html

This one is filled with all sorts of awesome new features, if I do say so.

Loot Goals / Shopping Lists
These are the most obvious new feature, and something that players have been requesting pretty heavily.  So you want to get spells A, B, and C -- those each have various component ingredients that you need to find.  Each of those ingredients is found in various locales.  That's a lot to remember!

Flipping back and forth into the Big Honkin' Encyclopedia in-game is really a pain if you're trying to hunt down a lot of stuff in that way.  It's great for when you need to look something up occasionally, but not handy for constant in-and-out navigation tips.

What the Loot Goals let you do is basically say "I want spells A, B, and C."  Then the ingredients that make up those spells show up in a new little "Loot Goals" sidebar whenever you hit the Escape key.  You can then see all sorts of data about each ingredient, including how many you need to collect to meet your self-set crafting goals, where to find them, and exactly what spells these ingredients are contributing towards.

You can even do this with the various kinds of items in the Where To Find Stuff You Want supplies sections!  See the release notes for details.

Texture Packs
Some players have expressed a desire to be able to create custom texture packs for the game, and given the nature of how this game loads files that's something that we were able to reasonably accommodate.  So this version of the game now supports swapping out specific images, whole new image sets, new particle effect logic, and so on -- anything you like.

I'll be curious to see what results from this; just please don't post anything that infringes on another company's or individual's copyright!

Mission Seeding Improvements
On the second continent and beyond, players were often getting way too many "personality structures" as mission rewards, and not enough of the other kinds of guardian powers.  Similarly, on any continent sometimes one mission type could still overwhelm the world map mission breakdown more than was healthy.

A lot of improvements have been made here to make all that "just work," and the details are on the release notes.  I'm sure that even further tweaking could well be warranted, so let us know what you think as you get a chance to try it out!

As usual, there was a variety of random other tweaks and fixes in this one.  More to come soon.  Enjoy!

This is a standard update that you can download through the in-game updater itself, if you already have 0.500 or later. When you launch the game, you'll see the notice of the update having been found if you're connected to the Internet at the time.  If you don't have 0.500 or later, you can download that here.

Lol I was wondering when another release was coming after seeing me go nuts on mantis and seeing your post updates for these :)

Awesome job on the shopping list, this should really help players know what they need without having to open the BHE (Big Honkin encyclopedia) And I am excited to see when some custom texture packs come out.

Biggest patch yet! Tried the texture pack feature. Working great!

I just want to make sure that it's not a problem to distribute modified game textures?

Glad you guys like it!

And yeah, feel free to modify the game textures and redistribute them as you please. :)

I suddenly feel rejuvenated and all is well again, must be a giant patch to save my nights and bring a sparkle to my otherwise....bad? day.  :D

Actually, what's brought me down today is a lot of terrible gaming and tech news.  Between the scamming AAA companies and tech companies who haven't a clue, its Arcen to save the day with an awesome looking patch, can't wait to try it :D.

Thanks for the update!

I'm liking the new loot goals as they give me a sense like I'm not just wandering around hoping for the best anymore.

Although, I just moved into tier 2, but all of my mission rewards are offering tier 3 orbs. I only have one tier 2 spell (and it is complete trash), so I'm not sure what use the tier 3 orbs will be.

Am I missing something or is this a glitch? I could start over in a new world if that might fix the problem.

Missions give orbs at a Tier level one greater than they are. This means the 5 Tier 1 missions should have given you 15 Tier 2 orbs. You can only upgrade a spell to Tier 3 if you first upgraded it to Tier 2.

You should have those orbs, but if you don't have the other resources required to upgrade them, they won't show up.

Check out the Big Honkin' Encyclopedia for the ingredients needed for the spells you want to upgrade.

If you find yourself missing a lower level tier orb, you can always get a "Diluter"-class enchant. Those "dump" mission reward tier orbs down a notch, so you shouldn't be permanently stuck.

Chris, you should add KDR_11k to the list of thanks for the shopping list feature - his post is the one which inspired me to log it on Mantis!  :)

Oh and double huzzah on the persistent particle effect modding!

Btw, I noticed that sudden that little line that used to be in stealth missions now applies to all monsters everywhere. Was this intentional? It doesn't say anything about it in the patch notes. (see post below)

I really hope this isn't intentional. That is info you're not supposed to have, and I was slightly miffed to see it even in stealth missions, but I can live with it. Thought it should really just be an aura rather than a "debug"-type line.

*facepalms*, I apologize, I had the stealth enchant from usage in a prior stealth mission and forgot to remove it.  I feel quite sheepish.  Clearly I am too tired to be up right now lol.  Gah, never mind, carry on, nothing to see here.

Whoo, shopping lists!
That's an awesome feature, especially for a crafting heavy game like this. :)

Looking forward to testing this out later tonight.
