So, if I am getting some of the implications of the release notes so far, it seems that:

1. Spells gem instances are getting a new way to differentiate from one another in addition to base type and tier (thus explaining why each individual spell gem is getting more importance)
2. Region tiers are being reintroduced (albeit in a different form, it looks like it will be per region "tier modifier" or something like that)

Now, this is merely inferring from the passing mention of these mechanics from some of the other semi-related entries. As of this writing, nothing about spell gem changes (beyond that they will now persist after being dropped) nor individual region tile property changes have been explicitly added as entries, so of course I could totally be wrong about this.
But if this is true, this will take care of one complaint (there isn't much "customization"/"optimization" players can do with spells, in part due to currently each spell gem of a certain type and tier is the same as any other spell gem of that type and tier) and reintroduce a popular feature removed during the beta (variance of tier per region).

In terms of #1: yes.  In terms of #2: no, not at all.  Though it will vary by continent.

These changes look very interesting on paper. Looking forward to seeing more on them as they evolve.

See, that's what I meant when I said my inferences could be dead wrong.
At least I got 1 out of the 2 right. :) Wait, 50% is a terrible success rate.  :P

Anyways, I am wondering why you credited me with repeatedly reminding you about the MP health scale thing. I think I made one maybe two posts describing that perception/fun-factor did not match numerical balance for whatever reasons. I'm not really sure how that qualifies as "repeatedly". Did I remember wrong?

It seems like your name was up there a lot whenever the subject came up. ;)  But if it bothers or offends you I can certainly change it.  I meant it in jest.

Oh, that's what you meant. OK, yea, I do tend to link to previous observations, sometimes reposting them, in newer posts about a subject. If thats what you meant, then yea, I can see that.

And I wasn't offended, I just didn't want to take glory for something that I couldn't remember taking an active role in. ;) Now that I see I sort of did, indirectly, I guess it can stay. :)

My level of excitement over procedural spell abilities just keeps growing. The possibilities! Especially with the balance of "over powered" abilities being eased by the fact that they become outdated in future tiers.

The not asking questions part is really hard....

We'll be releasing the first version of this today for sure, finally.  Then we have a couple of weeks to get it all polished up for 1.2 so that everyone is happy and it's as good as it possibly can be.  But I'm really encouraged by what's going on thus far. :)

Okay, the new version is now out!  http://www.arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,11012.0.html

The moratorium on questions is of course lifted, since now all the explanations are in place, and in fact you can experience the revisions for yourself and give us direct feedback rather than how it sounds on paper.  I hope you'll all be pleased. :)  But of course please give us your feedback on whatever the inevitable issues are; I know there's been discussion about that on co-op already, but I'd like people to be able to try this before judging too much.  Things sound so misleading on paper always!
