I guess the much larger amount of health potions is a little more thematic because there wasn't magic in the older times before the calamity, but I'm getting 10 Health potion stacks for every 1 energy potion stack which it a little too much.

I decided to try out bear traps because I suddenly was sitting on 400 of them :D.  Three notes about bear traps: Do they go up in level like everything else?  I'm only asking because previously we could only craft level 1.

2nd: They really don't seem to do any meaningful damage  only maybe 10-20% of a random monsters health (Dessert Burrowers in my case) with the high cool down and the fact that they are consumed making them non-viable.

3rd: Bat form doesn't reduce a traps damage, making it so in theory you could fly around and drop all sorts of spiky goodness on you enemies with impunity (Damage and cool downs aside).  I'm also if not sure if this is intentional or not.

Sorry but I'm going to double post here.

Are there supposed to be pylon barriers where there weren't ones before in this new update? Before this new update I was able to reach a settlement but since I installed this it's completely surrounded by the barriers. (and before that I had already removed the barriers surrounding that area.

and worse still I don't see any pylons in the nearby area.

No, those should not have changed; that's possibly a bug.  Unless the last version you played was TWO versions ago, not one -- in which case yes, they changed to prevent some various issues people were reporting.  I'm guessing that's what happened.  In terms of the pylons, look for them on the road tiles -- they tend to blend in right now, but longer-term I'm going to replace the pylon graphics entirely.

Oh -- or unless you leveled up.  If you level up and new terrain appears, then new pylons can absolutely cut through places that were previously accessible.  That's part of why we added the "Warp Back To 0,0" button in the escape menu on the world map.  It's the overlord's minions at work, basically, putting up new obstacles as you explore further.

I just had something strange happen to me with the pylons. I was playing with 0.521 installed last night and cleared out some pylons to get to a settlement. When I loaded up my world today, the settlement is completely surrounded by vortexes now. Looking at how the map is right now, the only way I could have gotten to that settlement is by going through a bunch of ocean tiles but I have never visited those tiles. Here's a screenshot of this.

And I have not leveled up recently.

EDIT: I figured it out! So if you destroy a pylon and then exit the game, when you reload the world, there is an invisible pylon where the pylon you just destroyed is.

Eep, is that in Mantis?

Yep, there was already a report on the invisible pylons, I put up the info on how they appear on that report. http://www.arcengames.com/mantisbt/view.php?id=4660

The new stash logic is pretty cool, but anyone else feel that they are a little too common and/or too rewarding?

I started a new world, and in only like 3 buildings, I got 20 or so mana potions and 70 or so health potions. Plus hundreds of platforms. That seems a bit much.

I'm also sitting on a few hundred emit light scrolls,  Through I did find a 100 Summon Rhino scrolls and am having fun with that.

I think the logic of whats in them vary based upon the type of area.  In a desert area I was swimming in health potions, but in a Skelebot Junkyard I've haven't found many health potions at all (but I've found a lot more summon light scrolls)

I've only found health, mana, and platforms.  Maybe a few light scrolls.  Most of the time, there has only been one health or mana potion, but I'm swimming in platforms!

I really like the balance changes introduced in recent versions.  I'm sure there will be more variety in the stashes once there are more items to seed it with.

Notes:

1. "region level numbering to purple when vortex is on them" seems like a great idea.  Added to my list, that's a great way to solve that.

2. Possibly the stashes are too rewarding in some senses, but in another sense I don't really want to make players HAVE to explore tons of side buildings.  Building up a big store of these things seems valid to me, not to say that the current numbers don't need to be changed.

They are currently quite nice but... how many platforms/traps/etc. one may need. And when you go search for potions.. that mana ones are still highly elusive ;)

I dunno, I'm sitting on about 70 mana scrolls atm so while there may not be as many mana potions, sure are a lot of scrolls.

No any buildings not already explored will start to spawn the stash rooms. Lots of lovely health and mana potions and a few other goodies.

Nope. Buildings you've already explored won't have anything new, but, unexplored buildings will have the new rooms. :-)
