AVWW Beta 0.504, "Multicolored Offense," Released!
« on: September 28, 2011, 01:46:22 pm »
Original: http://arcengames.blogspot.com/2011/09/avww-beta-0504-multicolored-offense.html

After a small maintenance release last night, this one is our latest full update.  This one is full of tweaks and adjustments, including monster speed, how you transition between chunks, how the auto-potions work, how potions work in general, and how offensive spell cooldowns work.  Check out the release notes for full details.

More coming later tonight.  Enjoy!

This is a standard update that you can download through the in-game updater itself, if you already have 0.500 or later. When you launch the game, you'll see the notice of the update having been found if you're connected to the Internet at the time.  If you don't have 0.500 or later, you can download that here.

So cool! I just bought it. 110% worth it.

Interesting question (I like reading release notes):

The notes have a note saying "Fixed up all the destroyed room templates to be taller and thus not trap players who are neutral skelebots or similar." Does that mean there is some way... to play as Skelebots? Oh man. That would be awesome.

Sure is! :-) Once you unlock them by making a wind shelter in a junkyard, they become available to select during character selection. :)

That brings up a question, is there an option for character swapping without first dying or abandoning your current character to the wilderness? If someone really wanted to play a skelebot I'd hate to think that they threw bald guy off a cliff just because he wasn't robotic enough for their tastes. (Well, a cliff wouldn't do it with no fall damage, but you know)

The only way to switch charcters is to die (either intentionally or not) or to abandon the character.

"Player bats now only have 5% as much magical attack strength as normal, however. "

Nnnnooooooo!

Well, guess I'll have to relearn how to jump when I get back to playing.

It seems that someone (cough devs cough) thought we had it easy before...
Now mobs are faster and our potions are healing significantly less... so it's more potion grinding in houses and less fighting. Or reduction of difficulty level to compensate for nerf bat swings :D

In terms of potions healing less, if it's too much less I'd love to rebalance that up.  It's not meant to be more grindy.  But rather there was a component in there that was definitely undesirable before, and I haven't taken the time to increase potion restoration since.  I figured folks would squawk if it was too low as-is. ;)

:)  Wonderful to see all the new patches and nice fixes, though i have just run across a small problem, well, i am guessing it is a problem, either that or i'm missing some new change, which is possible.

Was at 0501 and updated today to 0504, though now when i have returned to my first settlement the memory stone advisor is gone. The others are there, and the new fixes for bats and entering new areas and other things i am assuming because i haven't quite got far enough to test them all.

But am i supposed to lose my memory advisor?

Or perhaps my save game doesn't like the new changes?

Does that mean i will have to generate a new world?

Thank you for everything, take care,

-Teal

The memory archive and the adivser guardian are two different things -- the adviser guardian (the big blue stone) should still be there.  The memory archive was removed from the game for now, until we have time to fix it up better.  Cheers!

Ahhh... i see, no problem, it was the Memory Archive, but it was nice to have it, will be looking for its return when you have it fixed up.  :)

Thank you!

You bet! Keith wanted to take it down before people got used to it, because he wants to redo it better. A lot has changed with the game since that was first implemented, and it was kind of outdated and prototype-y. :)
